Are you really so sure that the DOD doesn’t get funded anyhow? It is my understanding that only non-essential government departments don’t get funded at the same level they already are at the present (i.e. park services, fishing and wildlife, a few others). Most affected in a shutdown are so miniscule in scope that hardly anyone will even notice it.

Hell the sequester hurt the military more than this if I understand it correctly.

Yes...I'm sure. We (as do most parts of the government) operate on a yearly budget. What you are thinking of IS the CR. When we are under a CR we can operate at 80% of the previous year budget. We have to have a CR at least to have the funding. Now, military operations will continue and the nuts and bolts of how it can without violating the Anti-Deficiency Act, I have no idea.

I do, however, know short of some appropriations bill or CR we won't get checks. I've seen the guidance from the OPM. I have heard the senate signed the house passed bill for funding DoD...but only heard it on Hannity and haven't seen it anywhere else.
