Hispanic outreach: Mitt Romney’s largest error from 2012

CNN) – Mitt Romney has had some time to reflect on what went wrong last November. His main conclusion: the Hispanic community didn’t understand his immigration stance well enough.

"The largest strategic error was not investing sufficiently, particularly in Hispanic TV and Hispanic outreach to help Hispanic voters understand that ours is the party of opportunity," Romney told CNN’s Jake Tapper of the lesson to be learned for GOP presidential campaigns of the future.

Romney lost the Hispanic vote by 40%, a loss seen to be in large part spurred by the perception of the Republican Party as antithetical to immigration reform.

"I think my position and the position of our party is not well understood at the Hispanic community," said Romney. "I want to see immigration reform. I said that during the campaign. I want to make sure we have a legal immigration system that brings, in my view, more people legally to our country. I'd like to do that."

Two truisms stand out:
  1. Pravda actually provided a more balanced view than our mainstream media because they dared criticize the politburo once in awhile.
  2. When given a choice between a Democrat and a near equally bad Republican, vote for the Republican anyway because at least the press will hold them accountable.

The most politically tone-deaf Presidential candidate, ever.

This race was lost as soon as Zero’s ringer was nominated.

No, Dennis, YOU VOTED TO INCREASE LIBERALISM IN BOTH PARTIES. Period. That is a fact.

I voted to weaken whichever statist candidate won -- I voted third party for the express purpose of reducing the winner's popular mandate.

And as for your assertion that Romney was "a lot less statist than Obama," I challenge you to back that up with data. Show me exactly where Romney has acted (not spoken with empty promises, but his RECORD) in a less statist way. I DID MY DUE DILIGENCE on Romney and know that he is every bit as much a statist as Obama.

YOU VOTED FOR MORE LIBERALISM AND MORE GOVERNMENT TYRANNY. Period. A hard cold fact no matter how you rationalize that it was the mathematical fallacy of voting "against" Obama. I am grateful to God that your candidate Romney lost. And if you tell me "he wasn't my candidate," there again, you are kidding yourself: If you voted for him and if you encouraged others to vote for him, then Romney was your candidate.

You were manipulated by fear and panic and hysteria to vote against your own and America's moral and fiscal interests. Fear and self-deceit got you to ask for the Republican party and America to be headed by a stone-cold statist government tyrant who was pro state-run health care, pro global warming, pro abortion, pro forcing homosexual acceptance on people and businesses and youth groups and schools, and pro activist judges. YOU CAN LOOK IT UP. I did, and that is why I voted third party and it's why I am thankful to God that Romney lost.

How important is "media control" when the majority of Americans think the media is full of crap?

You are a defeatist with guts like water.

You are on an libertarian emotional overload. Being a true believer you are too blinded to see that Obama is an ultra statist (lame and hackneyed usage by the way) just going by 0-Care which is a Federal power grab to take over 1/6th of the economy. Romney would have found ways to delay 0-Care and greatly modify it until it could be dumped, all or most of it.

Seen any false flag operations recently? (another overused lame expression coming from libertarians and Paulites)

Democrats use the media to train, to condition the low information voters to react like Pavlov’s dogs and train them what to think. You are a high information voter. Only problem is, it is the wrong information
