As Mr. Pauls and Mr. Cruzs recent filibusters on the Senate floor have shown, the 2016 quest for the White House is well underway. A fierce battle among the new small-government, libertarian stars is already raging.
That has left a growing number of conservative activists voicing concerns publicly about a scenario that would let a moderate Republican like Mr. Christie slip through the cracks of a movement divided between such strong conservative personalities as Mr. Paul, Mr. Cruz and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
It seems like a broken record every four years: a number of conservatives run against one or two moderates apparently theres no such thing as a liberal Republican the conservatives cancel each other, and the moderate ekes out a primary win, lamented Media Research Center President L. Brent Bozell.
Pollsters see the same scenario in 2016 based on current data.
The pattern in recent cycles suggests that the GOP will ultimately settle on a more establishment candidate as a result of a continued split among conservatives, pollster and campaign strategist Matt Towery said.

what is this!!??
an enemy of the State list??
How many strikes does it take of running Liberals? GHW Bush, Dole, GW Bush, McInsane, & Romney weren’t enough? Dole cured me of ever again voting for Liberals. The media is going into high speed getting their Liberal choice as the GOP Nod looks like.
Screw Christie
Cruz shouldn’t be underestimated. He is far better than any candidate that ran in the GOP primaries in 2014, which was marked by a laundry list of flawed individuals. He will rapidly rise to the top in 2016. The MSM is his only viable opponent.
Nope.
The “State” is the enemy of the people.
Well, except for the 47 % who are in the wagon being pulled by the 53 % who DO pay their Personal Federal Income Taxes.
BTW, are YOU TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY?
Ted Cruz put himself at the top of the list
The question is can he stay there until 2016??
I will not vote for that fat Bastard.
I will not vote for Christie the Whale if the party foists him upon us. Not that my vote will matter. If we run a GOPe RINO in 2016, Hillary will win handily.
Just like mcnasty.
We are over taxed, enough!!!
only because of the wealth of the people (as compared to 1776 crowd) and our “conditioning” do we put up with it.
By “conditioning” do you mean that we have not noticed that the pot of water we are in is now close to the boiling point?
The crazy part is in running these “moderates” which are really old style progressive GOP is that they didn’t pick up one blue state and Romney didn’t even come close in his home state of MA. Both lost what are still fairly red states Ohio, Florida, & VA. GW Bush won all these states running as a conservative. So I really have a hard time with this idea that only a moderate can win because they haven’t. What they do is suppress the turnout of naturally aligned GOP voters. If its two big govt social liberal candidates does it make sense to vote? Many decided it wasn’t. If the GOP wants to lose again and further alienate the only voters who reliably vote and work for them go ahead and run a Christie.
I certainly won’t life a finger to elect him.
“By conditioning do you mean that we have not noticed that the pot of water we are in is now close to the boiling point?...”
Right!! like the proverbial frog!
:)
Sheeple finally realizing, when its too late....
“Oh, you mean that frog is us? Now I get it!”
“..Oh, you mean that frog is us? Now I get it!..”
pogo; “ I have seen the enemy and he is us”
Like the proverbial frog we will not move...
sheep are still so useful...
:)
That brings up the question of the day: “Is the average American voter smarter than the average frog?”
Take your time, as a wrong answer may cause the NSA to alert the IRS, FBI, and your local area Labor Union Goon Squad.
America is almost back to the good-ol’-days of Hitler’s 1930’s Germany !
BTW, where are Obama’s Hitler Youth? You know, the “Occupy whatever is prosperous” shock troops?
A Christie win equals America’s loss.
I will not support any usual GOP suspect.
If your name is not Ted Cruz, you need not apply.
“One could argue that Romney was a subtle difference in strategery in that he had been a State Governator rather than a (non-executive) Senator.”
Umm.. No. The narrative was probably, “hey, let’s take the most liberal candidate who implemented the same failed health insurance policy the president did and negate the one thing that would sink the president. Then we can use his wholesomeness, religion and business sense to bring conservatives together to vote for him.”
Hermann Cain would have cleaned Obamas clock.
“Divide and Conquer” — a strategy that has been bringing us tyrannical leaders for more than 2500 years.
Just look at how Lindsay Graham has divided up the “anti-RINO” vote in South Carolina. PRIDE has turned his sure loss into a sure win.
It’s surprising to me that, in spite of all the evidence, some people still think that General Custer’s “strategy” for dividing his troops BEFORE the battle had merit.
Fat Boy is another loser.
