Avik Roy, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, has done an actual cost comparison "Heres the bottom line," he writes, "most people with average incomes will pay more under Obamacare for individually purchased insurance than they did before."
Here's where the shell game comes in: the administration says that the actual numbers of the insurance aren't important and what really matters is how much people will pay after the subsidies. But subsidies aren't free. They are paid for through higher taxes or greater deficit spending. And these taxes are a dead weight on the economy that impede economic growth.

So, the New York Slimes attacks Republicans for supposedly shutting down government over Obamacare, but then exposes Obamacare as a shell game.
It’s on the opinion page at the NYSlimes. 99% of their reporters/editors like 0bamacare.
Wait until people see how much their copays are.
just read the comments and see the extent of mental illness that marks “liberalism” in this country
And in the meantime, Joe Biden wrote this editorial:
Joe Biden: Obamacare will fix a broken system

“But come Tuesday, Americans will be able to see for themselves that the Affordable Care Act isn’t actually about Washington politics. It’s about regular people shopping for insurance they can finally afford, and purchasing security and peace of mind along with it. “
it may be a shell game but at least the noble democrats are DOOOOING something
style points to the democrats
regular people may be out shopping for “affordable” insurance but Congress doesn’t have to, nor does Joe Biden
we are paying
The shock will take effect once the monthly premiums for ordinary Americans matches or exceeds the monthly mortgage payment.
“the actual numbers aren’t important”
They aren’t now but they will carry some weight in the future, with the IRS, debt collectors, hospital administrators, et al.
They also don’ want them to know there is no actual healthcare.
The Democrats are really throwing the dice on this one in persuading their constituents that the cost of health care and its quality will improve with the govt in the middle of it all.
“style points to the democrats”
Wait a minute - didn’t he say after the Syria debacle that he didn’t care about points for style?
Loaded dice, maybe since it’s a wink and a nod between the Dens and their constituents: no more debt collectors Dunning you for the ambyoo-lance. And we all know you’re judgment-proof for the 20,000 dollar gun-shot surgery ... so they think they’re tying this can to whitey’s tail when the practical effect will be to make more Americans (clearing throat) ‘judgment-proof.’
Correction.
Obamacare [sic] is a Gigantic CON game.
You (even you NY Timsians) will agree with this after you have sacrificed substantial time, money, and (sadly) some relatives.
.
I looked at a breakdown of the co pays and I don’t remember which state the exchange was for. What I noticed was the breakdown of who pays what.
They had 3 columns and each column had a yearly income.
The first column was the lowest income and the co pay was $3.00, the second column was the second highest income and that was a 15.00 co pay the third column which was about a 45K salary had a $45.00 to $50.00 co pay. So all they did was take from the 3rd highest income and pay for the lower incomes co pays. It was really striking looking at it on paper.
simply stated OBAMACARE is the massive federal tax on the middle class...but one can be sure that the likes of scum like Kantor and Boehner arent up to word challenges....kantors wife is so liberal she can make kosher salt turn into pepper
I can’t believe Biden actually called it what it is: INSURANCE! Not Healthcare!
0 Doctors
0 Nurses
0 Hospitals
You tell me what it's about!
