President Barack Obama said Friday that new exchanges for private health insurance under Obamacare will open next week as scheduled even if there is a government shutdown, adding: "That's a done deal."
In a congressional version of hot potato, the Senate on Friday passed a short-term spending plan that would prevent a looming government shutdown and sent it to the House for a weekend showdown between Republican tea party conservatives and their more moderate party leaders.
The 54-44 vote on strict party lines came after Senate Democrats pushed through an amendment to restore funding for Obamacare that House Republicans had eliminated in their version of the spending measure, which would prevent the start of a government shutdown on Tuesday.
Now House Speaker John Boehner must decide whether to urge his divided Republican caucus to vote with Democrats to pass the Senate plan, or yield again to a hardline conservative wing that demands making continued government funding contingent on undermining Obamacare.
Cruz loses filibuster bid
President Barack Obama, who has criticized Republicans for their attacks on his signature health care reforms, will make a previously unscheduled public statement at 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday, the White House announced.

YEP MARK LEVIN...THE GREAT ONE..!
A GLARING OMISSION....TO BE SURE...
How does it “get tossed?” What happened to the Conference Committee process?
NC Senator Burr (R) and sc Senator Graham (R) both joined Dirty Harry Reid and voted with Obama on this issue.
That's as far as strict party lines as you can get.
I expected NC Senator Hagen (D) to go that way and of course she did. She is also up for election again in 2014.
Keep in mind that Reid kept the CR at the lower level. He’s nervous, too.
What train did Peter jump off?
ole IRA Peter?
this POS helped supply the IRA with weapons....he is a dooooosh.
Then shouldnt the House stake out a position and not change? Send it back to the Senate as many times as it takes. Fund the government, not Obamacare.
The people will figure it out eventually.

The Senate just sends them back with funding for Ocare attached. The two houses could elect to go to conference or just keep ping ponging them back and forth.
If I were Boehner, I’d send the bill back with O’care funded and a 20% across the board reduction in the CR.
What does Reed do then?
“So, the question is, why? Why will the senate Republicans destroy their own party over Obamacare which will destroy the already frail economy?”
I think you’re right: the corruption just eats to the bone. I also think that a large part of this red/blue stuff is kabuki theatre to distract from the corruption. There just isn’t much difference between the two factions of what I term the uniparty. Every now and then we get some insight into the underlying relationship when they’re forced to actually take a stand one way or the other.
WOW!!! you cant be more wrong!
Don't get me wrong....I liked her till she drank the Mitt Romney Kool-Aid early in the 2012 election cycle.
She is the cause of the problem...lets bend over and give the Dhimmicrats the RINO opponent they wanted.....which means if you agree with her you are either ignorant or a RINO yourself.
Who is funding him now? He didn't get RNC money to win his seat as it is. It was grass-roots money, and he needed a lot less of it than Dewhurst.
The GOP isn't giving him nice committee assignments now, already.
They have NO leverage over Cruz.
If you are so negative about it, why don't you go to some GOP forum, where your whining and defeatism will be accepted?

Nah, I guess a little Freudian though. They just make me mad when they act like this.
Yep, you got your Ann Coulter poster, your bottle of Jergens.. you’re good to go.
Democratic (DUmmie) Underground is a good place for FR defeatists.
jackajackajackajackajackajacka
Peter King is a POS RINO. Primary him in 2014!
We must not quit! Ted Cruz needs all of our support more than ever!
What I don’t get is about all of this, don’t the freeloaders already qualify for their states welfare medical program?
