Damn near EVERYONE with a thinking brain feels the same.
I'm with you D.J.
“Either we take over the party now or we leave.
I believe we can take it over.”
I don’t believe it can be fixed or taken over. Therefore after 40 years I changed my registration from Republican to “unaffiliated.”
If 10 million conservatives would this week change their registration in mass from Republican to independent or Libertarian, the GOP establishment would have no choice but to pay attention. As it is the establishment is likely celebrating their victory over Cruz and the Tea Party. Boehner is almost certainly rounding up enough RINO House pubbies to combine with Democrat votes to pass a continuing resolution with Obamacare.
The corporate and Wall Street money behind the GOP establishment wants a single payer, government funded, healthcare system. I supports Obamacare as the bridge to single payer. Business wants to offload the cost of employee healthcare on the government to reduce operating costs. The GOP elites fear the money being cut off for campaigns more than they do the wrath of the constituents. They want to get Obamacare behind them in 2013 so it won’t be a campaign issue in 2014. History has shown that no matter how many times the GOP establishment slaps conservative voters in the face, on election day the base will once again come out and support the party just as abused wives return to the abuser.
The night of the 2008 election, I gave up on the GOP. I never gave them another red cent. I give directly to conservative candidates. The GOP is just Demorat Lite, as we all know. I can come up with half a dozen good eggs and that’s it. The rest are rotten.
Well, there goes Ron Johnson....(sigh).
I sent the following to the RNC:
We try to tell the inner city minorities that they’ve been voting democrat for years and they have nothing to show for it. What happes if I keep voting republican. NOT A DAMN THING! By the way, we were wrong about the inner city democrats, at least they got EBT cards and obamaphones, and free health care. AND WE PAID FOR IT. That’s what voting republican does for you.
That is exactly what I asked everyone when this national disaster first began. Who the heck would come help us??
We all know the answer. Somehow, people just decide to ignore that bit of reality.
I’m actually quite happy today, I find it so much easier to support and defend the remaining conservatives who hold any measure of integrity. To hell with the rest of them.
Their end will not be pretty.
After the rules changes at last convention, I renounced the GOP also.
I Could Not and Cannot Not Say it better than You have in your Post.
It frightens me that F.R. may have reached it's Apotheosis with your comment.
All I can say is well done sir, well done.
Thank you to all who have read and commented on this thread, whether it has been in support of my sentiment, or not. I wasn’t able to contribute, applaud or rebut many of the replies directed at me, because we left home shortly after starting the thread, and I am in an area with limited Internet connectivity for the next couple of days.
Just to sum up, to clarify some misunderstanding:
1) I’ve never been a registered member of ANY political party. (as far as I can remember...) I’ve been asked for a party preference in order to vote in a primary, but that’s as close as I’ve come to committing.
2) My intense interest in political machinations goes predates the Clinton era, but really took off at that time. I was astonished to see a candidate and his wife look me in the eye via TV and assure me that he repeatedly behaved like a deceiving scoundrel to his wife and daughter, but, hey, we can trust him not to screw us over. Really??!! Then I saw the media dutifully lap up the milksop and cover his sorry butt for the next 8 years.
I’d get my hopes up that American would wake up, only to have those hopes dashed time after time by the spineless political hacks on both sides of the aisle who were more interested in protecting their own than in demonstrating strength, integrity and leadership.
My faith in ‘Capitol R’ republicans started out as thin as fine fishing line, and has since been getting thinner as they have stretched and strained credulity with their feckless actions in the past 20 years or more.
I have nothing but contempt for most politicians of all stripes, but am reserving special feelings for the current batch of national leaders. Just when you think that things can’t get any worse, they prove you wrong EVERY TIME.
And they expect to be addressed in correspondence as ‘the Honorable’ so-and-so...
Here ya go, Senator, Congressman -— have a healthy mouthful of my saliva. Wear it well, it looks good on you.
And don’t even get me started on Obama...
(Take heart, Freepers, typing this on an iPad has spared you from a rant of epic proportions, if not exactly cogent and rational import...) Not correcting this for typos, either. The iPad is a nice toy, but it makes writing an adventure...)
The Republicans and the Democrats have become the party of Government.
Your Vanity was most Welcome Dj Frisat, I agree with every word.
