I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. My health insurer, Kaiser Permanente, has finally calculated what our family’s new health insurance rates will be under the grotesquely misnamed Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare.) The upshot: my premiums are about to rise by 114.6%. My wife’s rates? Up 109%. Our kids? Don’t ask.
Yes, it’s time to say goodbye to my current plan, with its $232-a-month premium. That plan is being discontinued, I’m told, because it “does not meet the requirements of the ACA.” It was a nice plan, with low premiums, free physical exams, a high deductible and eligibility for a Health Savings account. We got access to Kaiser’s lower in-plan rates for minor medical care, and we had the peace of mind of substantial coverage if anything catastrophic ever happened.

I read a report that clinics are already setting up across the border in Mexico with American doctors — cash only. Canadians used to flee here to get medical care that they had to wait months for, now WE’RE going South to do the same thing.
I live in California and I can only IMAGINE what it’s going to be like after even MORE illegals flood into the system... They’re the ones that need to get health care in Mexico from THEIR government.

We lost ours also but the State of Washington with its socialistic welcoming arms is ever so happy to migrate us into another state program. We are actually trying to stay clear of the Medicaid Morass, but that’s where the state says we’re going like it or not. Believe it or not they will not permit me to enroll in one of the commercial plans on the state exchange (I might do it in a sneaky way anyway, for the first year).
The left wing pariahs in Sacramento, have placed the illegals at the front of the line for their free care.
If you have something that needs to be done surgically, get it done before 1 Jan 2014.
I had extensive foot surgery a couple of weeks ago with rehab up to 8-10 weeks.
Our best weather, kayaking and fishing are during Sept/Oct early November.
We decided not to try it next year.

Good American doctors will become available to man these clinics very soon.

You raise a good point. Given the cards we have been dealt everyone needs at least catastrophic health insurance of some sort or place themeselves and their family at great risk.
They have already something like this in place. I haven’t had insurance since 2006, no money for insurance. I paid cash to the Nurse practitioner. She gave up her practice in 2008, so I haven’t been able to see a reg. Dr. since. She knew that I was pretty poor and apologized that she could not charge me any less than she accepted for Medicare.
Obviously, those complaining about this wonderful nobamacare are either selfish or racist...or both. Sit down, be quiet, get to work and pay your “fair” share. It is for the “better good”. Complainers are counterrevolutionary and will not be tolerated by Clown Prince nobama.
That about sums it up. I’m wonder why those that support it, are happy taking away the rights of 92% for the 8%? That’s not the America I grew up in. The 8% could have been dealt with another way. The attitude I’ve read is, “I don’t care about your Rights, my “Rights” come first. Very depressing.
No you have it backwards. Providers will gladly take cash eith out insurance overhead. It is for this that insurance is charged about 30 percent more.
Yeah, but your co-pay and deductibles are also up sharply to make up for the higher premiums, Oh, wait...
