Few senators in either party have the stomach to risk a government shutdown over demands to defund Obamacare.
When the showdown heads to a vote Friday, the tally will be lopsided a sharp repudiation of Sen. Ted Cruz and the tactics he advocated during his 21-hour talkathon. For Texas senior senator, John Cornyn, refusing to join Cruzs crusade has invited the wrath of tea partiers.
I assure you that I try to make the decisions I make based on the merits and not based on political risk, Cornyn said Thursday, shrugging off the potential backlash.
So far, Cornyn the partys deputy Senate leader faces no serious opposition as he heads into a bid for a third six-year term.
But Cruz allies say his stance wont be forgotten.
A primary challenge against John Cornyn is much more likely today than it was two months ago, said Matt Hoskins, executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund, a group that targets GOP lawmakers it deems too moderate. Hes really put his race in play.

As soon as funding is re-instated, Obamacare immediately becomes RINOcare.
Exactly! hope the flaming tire around thier neck fits!
and not, apparently, on the will of your constituents, eh Senator?
And I thought KBH was a rotten RINO. It’s clear that the holiday season is upon us, and that Cornyn wants to make sure that he’s invited to all the liberal martini parties. He’s an embarrassment to Texas, and will likely be defeated.
Cornyn statement on why he is voting yes on cloture to let Reid restore ObamaCare funding:

>>I assure you that I try to make the decisions I make based on the merits and not based on political risk, Cornyn said.<<
NO, you $%&!@# idiot. YOU ARE THERE BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF TEXAS EXPECTED YOU TO REPRESENT THEIR WISHES.
Therein lies the problem with this despotic government. Too many of them think they are better than us and know what’s good for us. We need to tar and feather (figuratively) a few of these know-it-alls to herd the rest of them back in line.
One thing Sen. CornynCare has illustrated quite well is that there is little difference between a RINO and a Lib Dem. On all the important issues, we end up in the same place either way. Now I just have to decide which candidate to support for the primary. I want to ensure CornynCare cannot break 50 in the primary.
Stick a fork in Porker. Political suicide.
This is true and will vote with that in mind from here on. The GOP is taking a giant dump on conservatives right now and I can’t wait to shove it up their arses.
Robert didn’t start it, he just continued the tradition.
I sure hope a primary opponent shows up, I would love to vote Coryn out!
