How about an amendment to ban political parties totally? That way everyone has to prove who they are by their deeds, not by their label. And you would have less mindless voters voting for my party, right or wrong. They’d actually have to listen to the candidate and find out where they stand on the issues.
Or at least run someone like Cruz as an independent. A Perot type might have won last year in a 3-way race. People are more disgusted with the parties than ever so you could use their labels against them with an independent.
Not to mention one problem with the Repubs is their cowardice and poor negotiation skills, not their ideology necessarily. So if you build a party on ideology, how do you stop them from making bad political moves?
YEP!
Absolutely, if it adhered to other points as spelled out by Alan Keyes and those of like mind.
In a heartbeat.
I registered as a Democrat when I could first vote.
But I have voted Republican since 1964.
I see no reason to change now.
It won't work, until ballot access laws are changed in most states, so that all partys have equal ballot access. In order to change ballot access the state legislators in Socialist Party D, and Socialist Party R would have to be convinced to change the laws in their state. I can't see that happening. If there were a new party established that suddenly became a threat to the D's, and the R's, the controlers from both partys would infiltrate the new party immediately.
As much as I hate to admit it there is only one way to solve the problem.
II Cronicles 7:14
If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will Ihear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
100% yes. I’ve already flushed the GOP down the sewer.
I love Cruz.....but third party will hand another victory to the rats....you can bet THEY ARE COUNTING ON IT!
-------------------------------
Nope. All that would accomplish is to guarantee a Hitlery election in 2016, and Sen. Cruz is too smart to commit political suicide by forming a third party.
What I'd like to see him and other conservatives advocate is that the Republican presidential candidate should be selected only by Republicans: no Rats or independents in the R primary. IMHO, it's largely because of open primaries that we get RINO nominees.
In a heartbeat.
I’d much prefer to see a new Third party, the RINO Party. It would have all the greatest heros in it: McCain, Lindsey, McConnell, Boehner, Cantor. It would be just dandy to have Karl architect it.
Then.... I’d remain a Republican, and support the existing and currently existing party, with Cruz, Lee, Gohmert, etc....
The GOP itself started as a third party. In four years, it completely wiped out the second party, the Whigs.
What would the new party espouse?:
1. Adherence to the Constitution, enumerated rights and balance of powers.
2. No funding of or for abortions and contraception.
3. Return powers usurped by the federal government to the states, i.e., Education.
4. Balanced budget, with all tax increases voted upon in national elections.
5. Strengthened military minus waste.
Waste of time , the US is a failed nation.
Reset is the only answer.
In a Peter King New York minute!
I prefer to work from within. There will always be a large group that votes for the party. It will take years, maybe decades for a third party to win the Presidency. I don't want to get stuck with 10 more Obama’s.
As fast as I could. With donations. Republican stands for literally nothing. More to the right of the dems unless they feel threatened and then they hide under the dem skirts.
In fact I think there could be several positive benefits to going 3rd party. The first one is that people are just tired of both parties.
Second- IMO the name "republican" has been completely trashed by the media.
Another point is that people like things that are new. (But, the party should be based on old principals-the Constitution.)
Because the left has been so successful in dumbing down the public about our nation, and it's true history, it's going to require someone literally teaching people the basics all over again, to save the country.
But if ever there was anyone up to the task, that person is Ted Cruz.
He has the ability to explain principals of the Constitution in ways that almost anyone can understand.
That said- I don't think leaving the republicans should be done unless there is simply no other choice.
I also think that if they decide to go- all conservatives and libertarians need to leave the at the same time- Either they stay all in, or they all go out-no half measures.
The main problem with leaving is that the media will do everything in its power to marginalize a third party (especially a conservative third party). How will this new party get its message to the people?
(I'm sure there are also many other important points to consider.)
Unfortunately I just can't help but ask :
If they won't protect us from Obamacare but they will exempt themselves from it,
if they won't do anything about the IRS harrasing us, and the NSA spying on us,
and they won't follow through on Benghazi (where good people died heroically because of, at the very least negligence),
if they won't pursue Fast and Furious, and in general, won't stand up to the dems about anything-
What is the point of staying in the party?
If a conservative third party can get organized and take over their own town that would be a good start. If they can’t do that then I wouldn’t waste my vote.
At this point.. YES!. I'll stand with Ted Cruz on just about anything he proposes.
I watched nealy 8 hours of him speaking and he made me a BELIEVER that there are still MEN who can LEAD.
Yes.
