HIV-Positive Porn Actors Call for Condoms

The two adult film actors at the center of the porn industry’s HIV scare broke their silence Wednesday and talked openly about unsafe industry practices.

Cameron Bay and Rod Daily, two of the porn stars who tested positive for HIV within the past month, held a press conference Wednesday alongside AIDS Healthcare Foundation President Michael Weinstein, who has long argued that condoms should be mandatory in porn productions.

“Ultimately, it’s just a big industry, and their main concern is money,” said Daily, who tested positive for HIV shortly after girlfriend Bay tested positive. “If they do care that much about the performers, they would use condoms.”

When you first start, it’s great. They want you. They have to have you,” she said. “But as soon as you test positive, you become just a liability.”

Unfortunately, condoms are no true guarantee against HIV. Anything that is made to stretch, ie: rubber, latex, etc. is very porous. That’s what makes it stretchy. Though the holes in those products are usually extremely small - microscopic - they aren’t all. There are some holes you can see with the naked eye. And along with that is the simple fact that those naturally occurring, microscopic holes are often ten times larger than the HIV virus. In my profession, we’re advised to use 2 or 3 pairs of gloves on top of each other, when dealing Hepatitis or HIV patients. Those gloves are often made of the same material as condoms. So, you’d really need to wear 2 or 3 condoms at a time to protect yourself against Hep B, Hep C, or HIV. What would that do for sensation? Is it really worth it? The most sure-fire way to avoid STD’s (or STI’s as they’re now called) is to remain celibate or be in a truly honest, committed, monogamous relationship such as marriage. Otherwise, you’re playing Russian roulette with your health and your life.

Why would they think the porn industry would care about the performers? They can replace the performers at any time, and often would make more money doing so.

Any possibility that these infected porn actors will ever work again in that business is zero, even in production. Which means their influence in the business is zero as well.

The only effective thing the industry can do is to stop using bisexual male actors, because *they* are the ones that get infected, and infect others.

But the real hilarity will come when the antibiotic resistant gonorrhea makes its entry. Now almost exclusively a “black disease” in the US, since it may become untreatable, nobody is going to want anything to do with someone who is infected.

That's just nonsense. When used properly, condoms are extremely effective against the spread of HIV/AIDS. The problem is when condoms are used incorrectly, and breakage or other problems result. In real world studies, which take into account the fact that many people doing use condoms correctly, condoms reduce transmittal rates by upwards of 85%.

LOL. I assure you that condoms are 100% HIV-proof if used properly.

I have a spouse and it’s not an issue for me. And my child is too young to think about it.
