The news replayed that video over and over that night. It was either NBC NYC or Fox NYC news. The next day or so it wasn’t even mentioned. I remember my son and I being stunned that it just “disappeared”. The press got their orders rather swiftly.

This was not a boo boo by the Navy. This was a terrorist attack. Read Commander Donaldson report on twa800.com or twa800.org. it is in plain english. The eyewitnesses accounts do not comport with a Naval accident.

I vaguely remember the debunking of the loose electrical connection in the fuel tank “subtrefuge” As I remember it that made as much sense as the 911 truthers” claiming that the WTC was nuked by drones...

Most people don't understand that a MANPAD is designed for engaging helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft. A MANPAD does not have a large enough warhead to cause catastrophic failure to a 747.

Had it been an accidental SeaSparrow firing, a direct hit to the centerline fuel tank area might cause a catastrophic failure but hiding physical evidence of such a strike seems improbable to me.

That was one of the top theories at the time. There was supposedly a naval or submarine exercise that went awry, and it hit the plane. Another one was that Iranians on a boat with handheld modified SAMs from Afghanistan, to avenge the civil plane shot down in the Gulf. There were so many stories out there that it was impossible to know which one was the truth. However, I do strongly believe that it was shot down by a missile. Too many people saw it, and there was a lot of funny business with the wreckage. Cashill was on it back then. Clinton covered it up to prevent harm to his reelection campaign.

In the video a "trail" comes up from the right side. Sure looked like a missile or rocket to us.

One of the calls mentioned by Reno was received at Tampa, Florida, television station WTSP from a man who identified himself as a member of a “Jihad,” a station official said. Jihad, meaning “holy war,” is a word used by Islamic militant groups. The WTSP spokesman said the caller gave no name and offered no motive.
