U.S. Senator John McCain takes talkathoner Ted Cruz to woodshed

Senator John McCain lashed out at fellow Republican Ted Cruz on Wednesday over a Nazi appeasement comparison he made during his all-night, anti-Obamacare marathon on the U.S. Senate floor.

McCain, a Vietnam veteran and former prisoner of war, said the comparison was inappropriate. He said he had taken Cruz aside privately to tell him, and got a response he did not like: Cruz told him his appeaser reference applied not to distinguished members of the Senate but only media "pundits."

"I resoundingly reject" Cruz's comments, said McCain, a senior Republican and former presidential candidate.

"I think it's wrong and I think it's a disservice to those who stood up and shouted at the top of their lungs that we cannot appease and that we must act," he said.

A comparison made by myself and others here on FR first. I was wondered if someone had slipped Ted Cruz some FR comments with those tweets, when I heard it. They are collaborateurs; it's a perfect comparison, as John McCain continues to prove.

<....”I think McCain never intended to win”....>

Of course not...he showed that time and time again...and shows now what a traitor he is to this country. I give him not an inch!

Exactly..this whole thing about him being a POW fails to mention what he did while there and his betrayal. I dodn’t know how he lives with himself!

McCain, a Vietnam veteran and former prisoner of war...

"I resoundingly reject" Cruz's comments, said McCain, a senior Republican and former presidential candidate.

"I think it's wrong and I think it's a disservice to those who stood up and shouted at the top of their lungs that we cannot appease and that we must act," he said.

McCain also objected to the suggestion that Republicans who do not support Cruz's strategy were not fighting hard enough against the law, which most Republicans oppose.

Did McCain take Cruz to the "watershed" with his comments?

To John McCain, I say

It was "his turn." And of course he was "electable, "bi-partisan," "a "maverick," and a "war hero."

But don't worry, he was "the lesser of two evils." And other republicans/conservatives would "hold his feet to the fire."

McCain couldn’t take a termite to a woodshed.

He’s lost his mind and is now the subject of derision by both parties.

Time he went back to Arizona, riding off into the sunset of a disasterous political career.

I knew his father and he never measured up to him.

I remember McCain's response, in his last presidential debate, to that woman who suggested Obama might be a muslim. "Oh no, no...you have nothing to fear if this man becomes president."

POW camp messed him up...or he really is that stupid.

How much more can I hate this MF. He can call Cruz a “wacko bird” but Cruz can’t say anything about him. I’d appreciate Cruz even more if he’d have said “I don’t give a damn about what you democrats think. And if you call me a wacko bird again I’m going to break your arms again.” Can you tell I hate McCain?

He told Cavuto that he had stood for longer periods than 21 hours “many years ago”. A reference to the Hanoi Hilton. I’d bet he spent a lot of years on his knees, too, telling the Vietnamese who his daddy was. Can you tell I hate McCain?

I am watching Hardball. McCain took exception to cruz comparing himself to Winston Churchill...good grief...and putting himself between the American people and Nazi..ism....really? That had what substance? Who looked more foolish? Cruz did.

The “politician” built his entire career upon his “service”. He’s talks about it constantly. Of course it’s fair game.

The songbird was as good a pilot as he is a public servant.

According to McCain 80% of his constitutients are against a government shutdown. As usual, he’s lying about both.

The more they hate, the more we like Senator Cruz. Actually representing your constituents? Radical, only in DC. He laid their ass bare on the symbolic show votes.

That is the reason I despise McCain. He has been using his “service” to demolish the country. He has long since used that up.
