Well, that escalated quickly.
The general election reached a new heated phase this morning as Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota charged that Democrat Bill de Blasios tale of two cities message was directly out of the Marxist playbook.
Mr. Lhota had already criticized Mr. de Balsio yesterday following a New York Times report that described Mr. de Blasios past support for revolutionary Nicaraguan politics, as well as his desire for a democratic socialism vision for societywhich Mr. Lhota called unfortunate.
But Mr. Lhota doubled down today in far harsher wordscalling on Mr. de Blasio to explain himself and equating Mr. de Blasios views with communism.
Bill de Blasio needs to explain himself and explain himself now to the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who escaped Marxist tyranny in Asia, Central America, and from behind the Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe, he said in a statement.
Mr. de Blasios involvement with the Sandinistas didnt happen in 1917; it happened 70 years later when the cruelty and intrinsic failure of communism had become crystal clear to anyone with a modicum of reason. Mr. de Blasios class warfare strategy in New York City is directly out of the Marxist playbook. Now we know why.

He’ll lose...............this is, after all New York City.
Still it will be good to DEFINE the D side of the fence for a change, and make the bastards RECOGNIZE what they are actually voting for; and what it REALLY means.
A glaring contrast from our last coupla national elections.
I agree that shining some light on his policies, affiliations is a good thing. It’s precisely what the media failed to do with Obama. Hopefully they don’t drop the ball here.
Sadly the nation is hurtling in a Marxist direction. I expect we are going to elect a good many of them and end up having to learn the lesson the hard way.
For 20 years, Gracie Mansion has housed at least nominal Republicans, so being the Republican (and Conservative) candidate doesn’t necessarily mean Lhota will lose.
Is the communist leading in the polls?
More like this, please. It’s good to hear Joe Lhota hanging in there, and getting these relevant criticisms into public consciousness as much as possible.
