WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) Sen. Ted Cruz began a filibuster Tuesday with the intent of defunding the Affordable Care Act, known also as Obamacare.
The Texas Republican noted while on the Senate floor, I intend to speak about defunding ObamaCare until I am unable to stand.
Cruz additionally asserted that Democrats are not listening to their constituents in regards to the health care law, which is set to take effect Oct. 1.
I rise today in opposition to ObamaCare in an effort to speak for 26 million Texans and 300 million Americans, Cruz asserted. It is time quite frankly to make D.C. listen.

1957 record: Strom Thurmond, 24.3 hours, in opposition to the Civil Rights Act..!
That should be 1957 record: Strom Thurmond DEMOCRAT!!!, 24.3 hours, in opposition to the Civil Rights Act..!
Did Mark Levin say who is supporting Cruz, beside Lee, Rubio and Paul?
Probably, the twits are flying so fast its hard to keep track.
And man oh man are liberals mad.......they say something and must get dozens of twits back telling them whats what.
For me after a moderate length exchange with a liberal their last reply to me was “you racist w#ore”, I responded with “you lose”...then the guy blocked me.
I have enjoyed this day on twitter.
I just looked through 100’s of posts and did not see the list. if you got to #MakeDCListen people are twitting the names of their senators who are voting no, and posting phone numbers.
He put it to the ones who aren't there .....'serve the people who voted for you'
...Please keep him in prayer...that God would give him stamina....and HELP!
‘.. I responded with you lose...then the guy blocked me.
LOL, the lib blocking you on Twitter truly showed that the lib did indeed LOSE!!!!
“Jeff Sessions was there just a few minutes ago....Cruz said only 4 senators and three house members are there.... ..”
Thank you. We should shame our senators and reps, and call them, and ask WHERE WERE YOU????
I’m contacting some on Twitter, but it holds a lot more weight if they are our own senators, of course.
And I just said another prayer. Thanks for reminding me.
If you have a titter account, take a look, if you don’t sign up..........it is fantastic what is happening.
Ted Cruz is reading twits on the senate floor......
God’s speed Senator Cruz God’s speed
“..if you got to #MakeDCListen people are twitting the names of their senators who are voting no, and posting phone numbers.”
Thank you, I’ll check out #MakeDCListen.
We grassroots’ Americans will be the ones who can help Cruz, Lee, et al, the most. Let’s call, and if anyone happens to live near their senators’ home office, I hear it carries a lot of weight if you can go there in person, esp. if you have a letter.
I do have an acct. w/Twitter, and I’m retweeting my favorite Cruz and Lee posts periodically.
I’m also telling people to call their politicians, and getting a few RTs of my own. There is so much passion out there.
Cruz says it’s up to the grassroots people. Sen. Cruz is working so hard, and we need to do our part, too.
Can’t he leave the floor at all? What does he do if he needs a “bathroom break?”
I emailed my two AWOL senators, flake and mclame, and told them thanks a lot for being worthless when the chips are down.
God Bless Ted Cruz.....a real man...real character....prayers for him and his fellow patriots...
Amen. God bless Ted Cruz. I am astounded at what he is accomplishing. He has the powerful anointing on him to do this miraculous stand. As the Hebrew children (Shadrach, etc) came out of the fiery furnace with no smell of being burnt on them — I look at Cruz this morning and he is still speaking, sans notes, in publishable, unedited, prose. And he looks as fresh and sharp as a man can look after speaking for 19 hours.
This is one of the best moments we’ve seen in DC in years.
I wrote my senators, flake and mclame, and accused them of being AWOL on this all-important endeavor.
