American gun use is out of control. Shouldn't the world intervene?

The death toll from firearms in the US suggests that the country is gripped by civil war
The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). If this perennial slaughter doesn't qualify for intercession by the UN and all relevant NGOs, it is hard to know what does.
But no nation sees itself as outsiders do. Half the country is sane and rational while the other half simply doesn't grasp the inconsistencies and historic lunacy of its position, which springs from the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, and is derived from English common law and our 1689 Bill of Rights. We dispensed with these rights long ago, but American gun owners cleave to them with the tenacity that previous generations fought to continue slavery.
There is absolutely nothing he (Obama) can do, which underscores the fact that America is in a jam and that international pressure may be one way of reducing the slaughter over the next generation. This has reached the point where it has ceased to be a domestic issue. The world cannot stand idly by.

We're pretty gun heavy here in Michigan as well. One in every 17 adult males has a concealed carry permit and there are many many times more shotguns and rifles that don't require registration of any kind.
We even allow open carry in our state capitol building.

The United States of America are a sovereign nation that cannot, and will not be policed or governed by any other group.
My right to keep and bear arms for self-protection is inalienable and will not be denied.

Moron. Oxygen thief. Guy's guilty of fraud for considering himself a primate. I daresay the Englishmen's DOGS of 1689 had more sense and dignity than this buffoon.

You’d think a Brit would know better. They decided the Americans needed to be disarmed once before.

This is beyond belief — the author advocates treating the US as some savage country, where international “intervention” is needed to save us from ourselves...
They think we’re Syria. ;-)

Xerxes demanded that King Leonidas and his Spartan warriors lay down their weapons and be subservient to his rule. King Leonidas told the Persians to come and get them. Born from the actions of the Spartans was the concepts of freedom and liberty. I stand with King Leonidas. COME AND GET THEM!!!

Was this hypocritical twit screaming for intervention for the women and children of Rwanda when 800,000 were hacked to death in the mid-90s? Has he screamed for the intervention of the world when tens of thousands of Syrians are killed by their government?
This was--IMO--a dumb piece commissioned by his editor so they would get some publicity.

It looks to me like weapons use... much heavier weapons, too...is out of control in Syria and a good deal of Africa. Why just the other day, I heard there was a weapons problem at a mall in Nairobi (/S). I also heard that some manpads were missing in Libya. And there’s a major weapons problem in Mexico.
Why worry about the law-abiding US citizen?
