I just checked the available plans and costs through Covered California (the state exchange that will provide insurance) and found my premiums will DOUBLE come January. I’m self-employed and have to pay for my own insurance. Two million Californians are in the same boat, not covered by an employer.

The sticker shock is going to be intense. Even premiums for young, healthy individuals will rise significantly, as the government is mandating that all sorts of procedures must be provided at little or no cost.
I might have to get a bare-bones plan with a $5,000 deductible in order to afford the premium.

make sure your wonderful elected leftcoast California rep knows this

and comrade, that plan with the high deductible will probably limit your doctor visits (cough cough) and that is good for society, it will ensure you don’t overuse more than your fair lifetime share of the limited (and shrinking by govt mandate) healthcare system that has become a de facto nationalized resource to be rationed by the govt

My aunt found that out too where her deductables ave doubled, she is 76, on Medicare and a Plan B health insurance carrier. When my mother (her sister, mom is 75 and currently fighting breast cancer) talked to her, she heard my aunt swear, which I never, ever heard her do such, and call the occupant of the White Hut an "@$$h0/e."
