Some of the parents deserve corporal punishment.

As for studies that show children who experience corporal punishment are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, Sprigg dismissed that as the difference between beating and discplinary spanking.

I dismiss it as Psychobabble BS.

Correlation does not equal causation.

It is just as possible that depressed kids are more likely to act up and be in need of corporal punishment.

I would never give someone else the permission to hit my kid. Ever. Hit em, and I’ll hit you back.

This is the damage that public schools do. First they go to one extreme, and then the other.

Corporal punishment is extreme?

Lack of discipline in school is extreme?

What is your happy medium?

Since I said none of those things, it is impossible to answer what you are asking, whatever that may be.

I have been in schools that beat kids simply for having the wrong answers on their homework. I have also been in very lenient schools that let kids run wild and act like fools. What with “free education for all children in public schools” being the tenth plank of communism in the Manifesto, I am wary of all public schools insofar as they are a tool used to weaken the family—and even some private schools that exhibit similar tendencies.

"First they go to one extreme, and then the other."

Since you did not specify which "extremes" you were talking about and the subject was Corporal Punishment, I inferred that it was one of the "extremes". Heading toward the other end of the scale, I concluded that you were implying a lack of discipline as the other extreme.

Please define the extremes to to which you referred.

No, corporal punishment isn’t an extreme by itself. Abuse in the guise of such punishment certainly is, though.

Same. I don’t even have kids yet, but I would flip my shiz if a teacher ever hit my kid.

I don’t plan on using physical punishment with my kids. My parents didn’t. Their parents didn’t. I don’t even think any of my great-grandparents even did. I sure as heck don’t want some teacher I barely know and who barely knows my (future) kid laying a finger on him.

I am really surprised it’s still legal in so many states.

Most of my generation was raised just the opposite: get a spanking at school, and get another one at home.

OTOH, the ones I went to school with who had parents with your attitude were the worst little B*****Ds in the school. And those parents were usually quite liberal.

How the times do change.

I’m with you.
Funny that I see alot of opinions here about how bad public school teachers are and how they indoctrinate instead of teach but a lot of those same people think nothing of letting that same teacher hit their kids. Weird.
