Within hours of the Navy Yard shootings, the FBI had traced the gunman's recent shotgun purchase and sent agents to the shop in northern Virginia where he bought it. Left out of the loop was the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a surprising snub between top U.S. law enforcement agencies that comes as the ATF struggles to show its relevance in Washington.
The ATF is the federal agency in charge of tracing guns used in crimes, including the military-style semi-automatic rifle used in rampage at a Connecticut school last year, a similar rifle used in the deadly shooting at a Colorado movie theater and a handgun used to kill six people and critically wound a congresswoman, among others, outside a grocery store in Tucson, Ariz.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Buy them a chain of convenience stores.
Odd, I remember seeing ATF on the scence, 2 heavily armed members with ATF patches on their upper sleeves.
Most functions of the BATFE can be handled by the FBI. I don’t see a purpose for it. The only legitimate function of the BATFE is the investigation of explosives. The other three letters of their acronym should be left up to the states and the people.

And the firearm used to kill agent Brian Terry.
Whoops sorry disregard this. Your government is there to protect you.OK?
ATF ignored. CERT team ordered off the site. Reports that the same company that vetted Snowden also vetted the Navy Yard shooter.
Lots of loose ends need to be tied up. The Chicago Plumbers are about to get busy.
It’s probably just easier for them to trace the guns when they have supplied them to the shooters. I think I read that this guy bought his from a legitimate source, not the ATF.
The media have been tasked with generating lots of smoke and dissonance, to obscure the reality that someone ordered the quick response force to go away, early in the shooting spree, thus raising the death count to a more useful level for propaganda purposes.
Find the next Waco and get to the of the food chain again...
Everybody knows that the ATF is ONLY there as a means to to comfiscate ALL firarms when they (Yes, the “they”) feel the time is right.
Yeah, EVERYBODY.
Meanwhile, they build their orginzation—and wait.
They are not worth the proverbial bucket of warm spit—and EVERYBODY knows that as well.
That file just keeps growing, don’t it?

It is now the most visited page on the site :(
The ATF screwed the pooch with “Fast and Furious’ then when the CIA took their advice on how to run gins in Benghazi, well we know how that went. So now they’ve lost their badge creed.
What the ATF needs is some high profile operation where they can show off in front of the news cameras. Like maybe they can attack a religious compound somewhere with a news team in tow.
The truth will out eventually. Even the Rosenbergs we're outed upon the release of the Verona Project. To think that all emergency bands aren't monitored and recorded in the Washington area begs credulity. I'd bet there are multiple independent copies out there.
