“I mean I am (not) in favor of abolishing expanded government control of healthcare as currently carried in America.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I don’t want to start a fight but that sentence makes me wonder why you are on Free Republic. I am in favor of getting the government totally out of healthcare other than constitutionally valid functions such as licensing of physicians etc. Ninety plus percent of all the real problems with healthcare can, in my opinion, be traced to government meddling. I think that most people can hardly imagine how much better off we would be without it.

I remember when I could get in a vehicle and drive to a doctor’s office, sign in and see the doctor within an hour or so without calling ahead. I can even remember when the doctor used to come to our house if needed. Now if a person needs to see a doctor and does not have an appointment he may as well go on to the emergency room and he may sit and wait six hours there. If you can wait that long you don’t have much of an emergency. Call today to many doctors and ask for an appointment and you may be told that the wait is six weeks or more. The situation is only going to get worse, even if we got the government out of medicine now it would take a long time to fix what is broken.

I believe American medicine is hugely over-priced.

Hugely so. Bordering on obscene.

But that is not the question right now. :D

Go Ted Cruz.
