Four people familiar with the development of the software that determines how much people would pay for subsidized coverage on the federally run exchanges said it was still miscalculating prices. Tests on the calculator initially scheduled to begin months ago only started this week at some insurers, according to insurance executives and two people familiar with development efforts.

Don’t forget about that 35 to 40 million new “U.S. citizens” we’re going to have when the RINO wing of the “rebranded” GOP rams their amnesty down our throats. They’re going to have a “human right” to “free” healthcare too.
Do these people actually believe everyone is going to get online Oct 1st and start buying insurance? That’s a computer crash you’ll be able to hear.
They’re already getting health care via emergency rooms and Medicaid. Nobody is getting refused healthcare in America.
Only 3 to 7 percent of uninsured claims are paid by the consumer - this stat came from a hospital biz consultant I know.
46% of healthcare in America is funded by govt: Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans, etc.
Yep. That’s typical software development too. The business requirements are never very well defined. They promise smoke & mirrors and that’s what they get.
I got a letter from the VA telling me that since I am in the VA health system I need do nothing when Obamacare hits. I also have a civilian plan with Humana that administers my Medicare benefits that I prefer since I can see doctors much more quickly than with the VA hospital. According to the letter, that also fulfills the Obamacare requirement that I have health insurance. So I will wait and see.
Don’t the idiots in the media know they’re screwed too, along with the rest of us? Why are they defending the indefensible?
Withhold payment. Indict the managers for dereliction and fraud. Recover the cost of the disaster they have caused. Five-million dollar penalty for every day the software does not operate correctly!
So, how does this subsidy work?
I think the insured signs up for a policy and pays his part every month starting 1/1/2014.
The subsidy is paid in advance to the insurance company for the whole year?? What if the insured stops paying??
You can do that? Can you use part "D" for a VA prescription? That would be so much cheaper.
I can't do that. I have to pay a flat $8.00 for all prescriptions from VA pharmacy prescribed by VA physicians only. Some vets (I think combat experienced and/or wounded which I'm not)are eligible for free prescriptions through the VA system apart from part "D.":
Who could? Those danged type of calculators are tricky. Damned calculators are much less difficult.
Pelosi says the IRS has to take your bank account before you know what you owe.
Yeah, I’m in a critical project now where we will develop requirements somewhere around go-live. It’s too important to do it right this time.
Of course, that makes my job easier. I write requirements. Just take screen shots of the deployed software and describe its behavior. I’m as much in the dark as the developers this time.

Its the Intentions that count
Barry still feels good about how this is coming along
There’s never time to do it the right way, but there’s always time to do it again.
Agreed. This project is so important we’re doing it wronger than usual.
