James “PeeWee” Richardson, mayor of Carbon Hill, Alabama, was arrested and taken to the Walker County Jail Thursday evening for allegations of sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, harassment, and soliciting prostitution.
Accusations against Richardson include: sexual conduct against four victims, “that he engaged some victims in the custody of the Carbon City Jail,” and soliciting prostitution from one of the victims.
Should “PeeWee” be convicted, his maximum penalty would be one to ten years in jail for one to ten years per count of sexual abuse and sexual misconduct. Each charge of soliciting prostitution carries a year prison sentence and up to three months of prison per charge of harassment.
Richardson must immediately leave his office as mayor if he is convicted, because sexual abuse and sexual misconduct are both felonies.

According to Walker County jail records, Richardson was booked on a total of 11 charges.
Those charges are: four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, four counts of custodial
sexual misconduct, two counts of harassment and one count of soliciting a prostitute.
Richardson’s bond is $250,000.
According to a news release we received Friday from the Attorney General’s Office,
Richardson subjected four separate victims to sexual contact by forcible compulsion.
Also, an indictment states that he engaged in sexual conduct with some of the victims
while they were in the custody of the Carbon Hill City Jail.
