I may be wrong here but having a Navy back ground, I know we have bases in Naples, Siganella (Sicily) sp, and Air Force in Aviano...and I’m probably missing some.
We NOW know the situation went 7 hours. If a call went out within the hour that a US ambassador and consulate were under attack and planes scrambled, how long would it take to get to Benghazi?
Seems like it’s a math problem...and lack of will problem.

Sigonella is less than 500 miles. During the Bush years, it has been confirmed by Cheney himself, that a Terror special opps team was based at that base. If you listen to the testimony the Military always refer to US assets and how far they were from the battle. The question is what about NATO assets. You need a POTUS that is engaged and calls the other leaders to get those assets in the air and with proper cross boarder authority. We all know that was not the case and it cost this country some very brave and special men.
