Actually, it WILL work, because some D senator has to decide whether he or she is going to impale himself on this or support a guy willing to through anyone and everyone under the bus (except Assad and Putin) to achieve his ends.
If they vote to cut funding, and still let the government run, the Senate can vote their conscience, keep the government running, and then say into the microphone afterward, “A moment of pause to get Obamacare right isn’t a bad thing.”
The House did its job. The asshat from Kentucky now better do his - deliver every Republican and peel off vulnerable D’s. This isn’t hard.
You send the thing to Obama’s desk, and when he vetoes it, both sides can say Obama shut the government down, not the Congress.
If it hasn’t occurred to D’s yet in Congress, Obama sees it as a bipartisan ‘FU, here’s to me’ arrangement.
It’ll work - you just need the testicular fortitude to do it.
And the senator from Kentucky needs to know that if he let’s this through, it will be forever known as “McConnellCare”
