Actually, there is one other element to the story...disrespect by one to the other, and likely vice-versa.
This is the ‘rage’ now...once you do some disrespect, there’s nothing better to fix the situation than a gun or knife fight.
I don’t know where this started....but I would imagine at least three thousand folks a year....die via “disrespect”. The death certificate may not say that...but it might as well be that. Strange world that we have evolved into. Course, in the 1790s...if you got into disrespect...you had a pistol duel out in some cowfield, and your buddies toted the dead guy to a proper burial.
Yes, it’s historical.
“This is the rage now...once you do some disrespect, theres nothing better to fix the situation than a gun or knife fight.”
And the “fix” is more brutal that a simple stabbing. I took note of a recent, well publicized murder in a high school north of Houston, in Spring, Texas because I once graduated from there a long time ago. A racial gang rivalry and announced intentions what would happen the next day. Somebody disrespected someone else and what really transpired in the hallway was not reported in the media. The loser was gutted like a deer. A knife ripped him open from the belt to his neck, and then his throat was cut from ear to ear.
