Some times, I see a ray of hope for this once proud country. This is one of those times.

I remember, so long ago, when I’d see a story like this and go, wow, that’s great!
Now I wonder how much of the funds raised will have to go to the fundraiser’s income tax bill. How much of the funds will be seized by state health care authorities to repay some of the medical care bills racked up over the years.
I miss the days when I wasn’t a cynic. Gee, thanks Mr. Obama, for bringing Change.

$91K should keep him in the drink/drug of his choice for awhile, OR give him a start in cleaning up his life. Prayers for the latter.

You can buy alot of booze for $91,000. Hope he uses the money to turn his life around but I doubt it.

Your post is uncalled for. Do you really think that he would have returned the backpack with the money and the travelers checks if he was a drug user or a boozer.
Shame on you

I notice that the fund to reward the homeless man was NOT initiated by government.
WHAT A CONCEPT!!!
American PEOPLE get the right things done, NOT government.
Lesson to be learned by this.

I hope a really good, HONEST financial advisor will donate his or her time pro bono to help him manage that and get him to a safer location so he doesn’t get robbed blind or swindled.

I’ve read elsewhere that the backpack contained cash, travellers checks, and a Chinese passport. As I understand it, many Chinese people are extremely distrustful of banks (makes sense coming from a Communist country where money deposited in a bank is always at risk of seizure), and so will often keep almost all of their life savings with them at all times.
