Assad has handled himself quite well despite having to do the interview in English. He is making the reporters look a little foolish poking holes in their assertions.

Assad is a tyrant, but this interview will help him--not hurt him.

I think Assad understands the region better than liberal policy wonks. The whole democracy/ ‘Arab Spring’ movement has been a disaster. These people cannot self govern without a civil society. Democracy in Middle East is just mob rule by Islamists and Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia Law..which is barbaric and primitive.
