In the year since the Benghazi terrorist attack took the lives of four Americans, House Republicans have continually pressed the Obama administration for answers regarding events preceding the attack, the administrations response, and what has been done to protect the lives of Americans going forward. Those efforts will continue with three House committee hearings this week. Heres more:
The House Foreign Affairs Committee holds a hearing Wednesday, September 18th at 10 am ET titled: Benghazi: Where is the State Department Accountability? The committee notes that four employees placed on administration leave following the attack have recently been re-assigned within the department. This hearing will examine why no one inside the State Department has yet been held accountable for the failures and deficiencies identified in the Benghazi Accountability Review Boards report. [TUNE IN HERE ] The House Oversight & Government Reform Committee holds a hearing Thursday, September 19th at 9:30 am ET with Benghazi Accountability Review Board co-chairs Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering and Admiral Michael G. Mullen, USN (Ret.), members of the Departments security panel that conducted a review, and family members of those killed in the attack. The hearing will focus on the review boards investigation and questions that still remain regarding the attack and the administrations response. [TUNE IN HERE] The House Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing Thursday, September 19th at 3:30 pm ET on lessons from Benghazi and the Defense Departments ability to respond to similar attacks today. [TUNE IN HERE]
Earlier this year, House Republicans released an interim report on Benghazi outlining the findings of five committees of jurisdiction investigating the attacks, and laying out next steps including additional hearings and an ongoing effort to obtain access to witnesses and information being withheld by the Obama administration. It is disgraceful that one year later, even though a number of the terrorists who participated in this attack have been identified, not a single one has been brought to justice, Speaker Boehner said last week, pledging that Republicans will press forward with our investigation until we have answers, full accountability, and justice.
Mullen mumbling into his hands again.
Gowdy asking what Hillary knew or didn’t know.
Mullens doing the hand over mouth bit again...lol. Gowdy makes him nervous!
I’ve tried to get this to Issa and his staff, but no luck. Anyone out there able to do so?
Gowdy to Mullen: We had the ARB recommendation in 1998.
Excellent questioning by Trey Gowdy!
Sec State requested by similar review board in 1998(!!!) to personally consider the security of every US diplomatic mission.
This was her responsibility! Adm Mullen very very weak.
Haha..he even has assumed folded hands like prayer hands in front of his mouth now! I bet that ahole is praying the truth stays buried....lol!
What in the heck is Cummings mumbling about?
Mullen: Clinton had hand in the decision making so no need for interview.
Gowdy: (Reads quote by BO) Did you interview Obama?
Gowdy: re. Cheryl Mills and “heads up”.
Mullen: Thought Lamb would be a weak witness.
Gowdy given extra minute. Cummings wants to hear answer.
Gowdy: Why the heads up?
Mullen: Thought there would be better witnesses.
Gowdy: Lamb a fact witness.
Mullen: Department should have been represented better.
Gowdy: Not a good witnness? She is a fact witness.
Cummings: blah, blah
Mullen: Understands fact witness. Lamb hadn’t done this before.
Trey Gowdy is THE FREAKIN MAN!
Poor little Maloney, offended that anyone would question the brilliant SOS hitlary - what an insult this woman is.
Just joining.
Meehan just verbally jacked up Pickering against with wall with Kennedy’s own testimony from yesterday.
Meehan said Kennedy used a Damascus example from several years ago as a “shield,” to demonstrate how he went to Sec State to get approval in that circumstance.
“Every day we review the threat levels at all of the posts of the world.... I concluded [Damascus example].... that we could not mitigate the risks sufficiently. I went to the Sec State and she instantaneously gave me approval to suspend operations in Damascus and pull our people out.”
Issa chiming in that UnderSec had all the authority -— why are you plying these merry-go-round games.
Pickering’s squirming response was a rather arrogant admission of his own failure, inadequacy-—even negligence to drill down and ask the tough questions. Made him look like just another hack trying to protect his reputation and not make any waves.
“I can only say that we located the decision-making with the DSS.”
Nothing important..lol. Now Baloney Maloney is resurrecting the War On Women meme about republicans because they dare to question Her Thighness! LOL!! Good grief.
Other than one or two people I have been watching there are few impressive people involved in all of this. Now we are listening to Maloney/Baloney who defines any questioning of Hillary Clinton as some kind of slam against “women”? Huh? What a farce.
What was happening is that they where running arms through Benghazi and got themselves killed because Obama did not have the guts to save them.
She is truly a sick one - I doubt I can listen to this idiot continue to prop up hillary -
Gowdy’s line of questioning very appropriate! In the end Mullen could not dispute Trey’s stance and concluded the witness was a “fact” witness.
Missed the first part of Trey’s questioning
Sec of state review embassy premises
Specific recommendation from history
Understand my question did she review the security
Mullen: no ?
Trey: did she close it?
Mullen: not aware
Trey: evidence ARB and yet some on this committee would say “Lets dont study past look forward”
Recommendation we had this in 1998
Sec State review facilities and consider closing them if not safe
Question: you never interviewed her
Mullen; looked at previous ARB, but not to test those in current administration
Quote: looking at everything not looking at one thing
Author: Sec. Clinton
You dont even bother to interview her
Mullen: she wasnt involved in decision
Trey: she should personally review
Mullen: we didnt interview her
Trey: mullen and Pickering every element
Author quote: Obama
Did you interview him to see if he called anyone for help?
Jason asked about Cheryl Mills you wanted to give her a heads up she is the counsel for the state dept heads up about what
Mullen: sharleen lamb- weak witness
Trey: Concerned if she would tell the truth
Mullen: that wasnt it
Trey: heads up about truth/ testimony
Mullen: would never question the integrity
Cummings: let him answer
Mullen: experience witnesses intention explain there would be better witnesses
Trey: for what standing?
Wasnt she a fact witness
Facts pick the witnesses
Mullen: run a dept have dept represented as best as possible
Trey: understand bad witnesses I couldnt pick witness
She is a fact witness
Cummings: one thing question: this has nothing to do with honesty or integrity of witness
What does it have to do with?
Mullen: point taken she was a fact witness
She had not done this before to be able to represent this was important
Cummings: best information to ARB
Mullen: to congress
Gowdy: “Mills was a FACT witness” “You don’t get to pick the witness, the facts pick the witness”
..and Charlene Lamb should be at home knitting sweaters for her grand kids, but she probably got a promotion.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney is bitching about "attacks on women"??? WTF? Can't talk about Hillary or that's an "attack". F'ing B!TCH.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, IF YOUR NAME WAS 'STAMPED' ON A DOCUMENT, IT WAS YOU WHO APPROVED IT AND IT IS YOU WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT WHETHER YOU PERSONALLY SAW IT OR NOT. WHY DOES THIS NOT APPLY ANYMORE?
Off of twitter
Correction... should read Lamb.
