In the wake of the shooting at the Navy Yard, Obama spokesman Jay Carney said the president is implementing executive actions and reiterated his commitment to strengthening gun laws, including expanding background checks to sales online and at gun shows.

Under what authority does the Chief Executive create new laws (especially when congress refuses to pass the laws he want to implement)?
What is difference between a dictator and a Chief Executive that can create new laws while at the same time ignore exiting laws (by failing to enforce them)?
Where is the Republican party?
I do not expect the media to say anything but you would think the opposition party would have something to say about this President trying to do by executive order that he has been unable to get done by the legislative process.
I know that is \sarc, we all know he is no expert at anything especially the constitution which he would love to shread and burn.
The first EA will be to isolate any whistleblowers,
and to remove and reward the handlers. Just like before.
Obama waives ban on ARMING TERRORISTS to allow aid to Syrian opposition
What could go wrong? After all Obama and Holder have experience with this in Mexico.
Ah, yes, the expedient President, that which cannot be legislated must be executed. Yeah, ask me about the word executed ..., multiple meaning right? Are we going to get to a point where we debate its meaning like a predecessor did?
This will be interesting. Since he is one of the few Presidents who has went along with the expanding of gun access in the US, ie National Parks, Amtrak.
Criminally insane persons should not be permitted to walk in a free society.
Putting a litmus test on gun ownership does nothing to keep the crazy from killing with poison, pillows, knives, cars, baseball bats, etc.
If they cannot legally be held accountable for their actions, they should require a legal guardian in their company at all times. Essentially house arrest or institutionalization.
The drugs don’t make them “normal”. They make them PASS for normal.
This is just gun grabbing.
If these types of shootings continue to occur, the creators of "Gun Free Zones" will lose ALL credibility...

“IIRC,this guy just passed a top-secret background check.”
Probably done by the same folks that vetted Obama.
Nadil Hasan was given a "pass" even though he was known to be in communication with Al Qaeda, was known to have made violent outbursts "death threats" against the "infidel", etc.
Without our diversity in the military, the loss of Nadil Hasan would've been a "bigger tragedy" than the murder of over a dozen American men, women, and children, and the wounding of dozens more. So said Big Brass.
Precisely...which is why it was within quotation marks.
;-)
I understand the point you are making, and this shooter most likely did not have one, but...

Where can I get an automatic shotgun?
FUBO
Someone (mayor of DC?) was blaming this on the sequestration.... If they just had more money, he would not have slipped through, it seems.
What people are not getting about this shooting and Fort Hood is that we have told the world’s leaders and terrorist exactly where to attack our military and their operations so they can not defend themselves.
“I guess he’ll just have to do this on his own since no one in congress will listen.” “O knows what’s best for his subjects so whatever he says goes.” He says “jump”, I say “how high”. “That’s how real leaders lead.”
Most of the above has been said by my liberal in laws. Except for “subjects”. This is why I refuse to go to family reunions.
Good catch.

There! That ought to stop them.
