When someone is fired, his badge has to be invalidated immediately! Pictures of suspected dangerous people have to be distributed to the guards.

From the article:

“....Aaron Alexis, 34, had been treated since August by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the criminal investigation in the case was continuing. The Navy had not declared him mentally unfit, which would have rescinded a security clearance that Alexis had from his earlier time in the Navy Reserves....”

The impression I am getting after reading many articles was that his clearance was never revoked following his 2011 discharge. I could be and probably am wrong. When a followup clearance was done, none of this showed & if the reasons for his 2011 discharge showed no one seemed to think it was important.

Aaron Alexis, the Va. Tech shooter, James Holmes, the AZ shooter, etc.- all of these men exhibited warning signs of mental illness before they went on their rampages...

I’m against restricting people’s liberty... but when an individual is essentially “controlled” by his mental illness and he is a potential threat to others, that’s a much different matter. Want to help reduce the problem? Then, it’s high time that legislators revisit civil commitment laws.

The gun ban nuts will be pressing this as yet another cause for gun control... never mind the fact current law prohibits someone with these mental issues from owning a gun in the first place. Somewhere in the existing database was a breakdown that allowed him to buy whatever gun he bought in VA. Here in this state, the purchaser must pass background checks in not only Virginia, but at the federal level too. Sounds more like a systemic flaw.

Since August by VA ... “suffering a host of serious mental issues, including paranoia and a sleep disorder. He also had been hearing voices in his head”

##

Another background investigation was re-run and cleared through the defense security service in July 2013.

If he had been a white conservative the MSM would paint him as representing everyone in the Tea Party - and they would call him a terrorist.

When the killer’s black - liberal - or Muslim - he has ‘a mental problem - or acting alone - not a terrorist - or stress caused workplace violence.

Not that the effing liberals have two standards or anything... but when was the last time a conservative was given ‘cover’ by the ‘oh so compassionate’ in the MSM?

The ideal candidate to be an unknowing assassin for the regime. Just like Jared Loughner was. Both were known by the military to have mental problems that could cover for targeted manipulation; both started hearing voices in their heads shortly before they attacked.

It’s tricky for the regime though, because we’ve already got laws on the books that were supposed to protect against mentally ill people having access to guns, and those laws failed in both these cases. In addition, the military was aware of the latest guy’s history and condition - and STILL not only didn’t take care of his issues but also didn’t keep their other workers safe from him.

If this guy was a Buddhist as they’re making it sound, he may well be a victim just as much as those he killed. The regime may have used him as an assassin.

Gun Control exponents will of course, exploit any opportunity for their aims but I don’t think this one works real well for that.

He didn’t seem to have a problem passing the NICS background check when he bought the shotgun, did he. Wonder why?
