It has been called the most popular rifle in America, and it's back in the spotlight after Monday's shooting at the Navy Yard: The AR-15.
Authorities said when Aaron Alexis unleashed a barrage of bullets Monday, he was carrying a rifle and a handgun. But he did most of the shooting with the weapon used in so many other rampages that shocked the nation:
List of 4 other shootings.

With Monday's incident, the gun will likely be in the crosshairs again. And again, it's likely nothing will change.

Post #76... it was a military firearm, not an AR-15.

but the media will not say the words "M sixteen" because that does not support the narrative in the least. In fact, it destroys their narrative because it confirms what we have been saying all along, GUN LAWS DON'T STOP MANIACS- GUNS STOP MANIACS.
This guy engaged in, what is known as, "butter knife warfare". You take your butter knife and walk up, all innocent and non-threatening like, to a soldier or LEO or other armed individual and kill him with it and then you take his sidearm. Then you use his sidearm to go kill someone else that has a machine gun and then you have a machine gun.
That's a narrative they don't want.

The murderer did not own the AR15. He took it and the pistol from the security guards.

“The AR-15 and the pistol were taken from law-enforcement guards in the facility.”
If that’s the case, it was a M-4 or M-16, not an “AR-15”.
I hope someone holds the media’s feet to the fire for its inaccurate and irresponsible reporting!

As always, the same as at Ft Hood, military bases are weapons free zones. Shooters know that the setting is gun free, so they attack a gun free area. It makes perfect sense.
If a number of concealed carriers had been present, this would have turned out differently.
We think it odd that a military base is gun free, but it’s true. There has never been a time that I recall, going all the way back to 1970, that any gun wasn’t required to be locked up on any post I ever entered.
So, a big “Gun Free Zone...Shoot These People” sign was plastered on the naval ship yard. The same at Ft Hood. The same at the Sandy Hook Elementary.

NBC is reporting he arrived with a shotgun and took an M-16 and a 9mm from an early victim, he then used the stolen military/police-issued weapons to continue the rampage. Once again, the gun is to blame......please!

There will be a push for all out ban and seizure. Remember, this happened in DC. The politicians view this as “real”.

It was probably an M-4 AR-type Carbine he hooked off the dead guard....yep, much different with auto...Every report of the sound of gun fire I heard was described as a rapid "pop-pop-pop". That's a select fire 3 round burst if you ask me...which is NOT a civilian AR15.
To: carriage_hill
Yes, but they look very similar. From a distance, only an expert can tell them apart. I certainly could not.

I was up at 4am; crap, I'm tired already. Big mistake to go to sleep right after TGO thread last nite. Dad and I are going down to FFLs to p/u rifles we dropped-off last week, and get him signed-up for CCW instruction and some range time, in next week's classes. Also need to p/u Belgard Paver samples for his new sidewalk (like your new house's), and get security co in for estimate (house across street from him was cleaned-out last week in broad daylight). 41°F here this morning and it feels like late October; people out walking dog, all bundled-up.

We write about how the media is inaccurate, but use a media website to confirm our theories.
Not sure if my high school logic teacher would have appreciated that.

The AR-15 cannot be “modified” to do three round bursts, otherwise everyone would be doing it.

I agree the Navy Yard shooting doesn’t fit the gun grabber
narrative very well. Either this guy went “off script” or
the polly’s started parroting their knee jerk gun grabbing
lines before learning just how far from the approved narrative this guy’s actions were.
