Aaron Alexis, the 34-year-old suspect in Monday's shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard, had "secret" clearance and was assigned to start working there as a civilian contractor with a military-issued ID card, his firm's CEO told Reuters.
"He did have a secret clearance. And he did have a CAC (common access card)," said Thomas Hoshko, CEO of "The Experts," which was helping service the Navy, Marine Corps intranet as a subcontractor for a Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services contract.

Obama “If I had a ‘body man’, he’d look a lot like Aaron Alexis”
Link? What does that red flag mean?
The dead lone nut story doled out at the end of the day likely bears little resemblance to the truth.
I have had a TS for many years and I do know the process, in fact, I was a deputy FSO.
Ya just can't make this kinda stuff up...
Ya think?
Just a wild guess, but given the venue of this event, they have probably no less than 500 video cameras of every angle, entrances, exits..etc.
All they have to do it look at them to determine if there was another shooter. They know the time frame....
Even my local government post office now has a dozen cameras in it.
I hadn’t thought of that in years. FBI showing up in a really small town asking questions about one of the locals. It was big stuff for a small town. Before then my only exposure to the FBI was Efrem Zimbalist Jr. LOL
POTUS is not “granted” a clearance. All classification authority flows from the President. He has access to all information regardless of the level of classification.
Not possible. Eric Holder says minorities cannot obtain ID.
“The System Worked.”
That is Chinese creepy! Please keep me pinged to your excellent digs!
‘The Experts’ is bad enough sounding to begin with.....gads.
Well Snowden was cleared too— what, is it too hard to screen people properly— are we desperate for geeks?
I'm east of Oak Ridge, Tn. It's common here or rather it was.
he had that certain look didn’t he....besides evil...
Among the vics are several women and older people. Brave perp shot them because they were asking for it? Or what?
May their souls rest in peace.
The key element here is the civilian contractor-— Hewlett Packard. The interface is a civilian one for IT services.
The same kind of crap happened with a civilian employee at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard who torched the USS Miami a nuke attack sub being refitted-— because he didn’t want to work and was having “anxiety” (no kidding). He did it twice. At a cost over 400 million to fix the damage over and above the refit. They did give him 17 years in federal pen, but THIS is the kind of whack jobs— well paid ones— that civilian contractors hire. They do it because they have to staff to meet the contract... and graft their money. BTW seven people were injured by this jackass, including 3 firefighters. He didn’t want to work— and a stoppage would mean his union job would still pay him. This is what is going on.
