At 2:30 a.m., a 200 lb man with blood all over him charges at you and does not stop even after you tell him to stop.That's what the cop said happened.
Whether that's what actually happened remains to be seen.
I suspect that since he was thrown under the bus by his own department, there maybe something else going on that has not yet been released.

It's up to his union to get a good lawyer for him. I suspect it will end up much more cut and dried than anyone expects. At 2:30 in the morning, visibility is a serious issue, not just in terms of what the guy is or isn't wielding, and whether he's got any accomplices. And then there's the fact that the deceased was a big guy.
