I don’t know about you but, if I had an acquaintance who was always spouting “I’m exceptional”, I would not hold him in high regard. If the statement were true in some regard, I’d consider that person vain and obnoxious. If it were untrue, or if he insisted that he was exceptional because he was God’s chosen vessel, I’d consider that person delusional. And if he said that his exceptional status justified actions that I thought were immoral or unethical, I consider him reprobate.
If he were truly exceptional, he wouldn’t have to say it. It would be plain to see.
