(Reuters) - U.S. Senator John McCain will submit an opinion piece to the Russian newspaper Pravda in response to an op-ed on Syria in The New York Times by Russian President Vladimir Putin that infuriated many members of Congress, a spokesman said on Friday.
"Senator McCain is glad to take them up on the offer and will submit a piece," said Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the senior Republican senator, one of the leading congressional voices on international affairs.
The announcement came a day after the venerable U.S. newspaper published a Putin commentary in which the Russian leader painted himself as a peacemaker and lectured Washington for what he called a tendency to use "brute force" in international politics.

Will WWIII turn out to be an Internet flame war?
I guess Barney Frank had a scheduling conflict
I suppose the Clown couldn’t think of any points to disagree with the Russian strongman on, Eh?
McCain, aren't there Democrats who will step up to defend Obama?
Where's Chuck Schumer? He's presumably the most powerful Democrat.
Why are you letting Schumer and Reid play you the way that Putin is playing Obama?
Sit down, shut up, and let the Democrats go on record defending Obama.

What are we, in 3rd grade now?
I know you are, but what am I?
OMG
If that idiot writes in their papers, it will remove what little respect they have for us.
And after the Pbamadork, there is darned little left.
John’s not smart enough to write anything himself.
He’s better using spit balls or flicking a booger on him.
Yeah, it’s ok to laugh. Dumb and dumber.
There is nothing more pathetic than a slow child
who thinks he is genius.Who is going to translate it into Russian ?
I think it’s a great idea to write a response to that self-serving Bolshevik. Having McCain write it? Not so much.
If “parry” meant “look good by comparison”...
McCain is an ass clown...
I think you answered your own question. He's a democrat.
>> What happened to letting your opponent keep digging the hole?
They can both dig.
Still carrying Obama’s water, huh, McClown?
How much is he paying you to be his stooge?
At this point I think ole John works for free, grateful for any nod of approval from the media that he cherishes so much.
I’m sure your average everyday Russian will put a great amount of stock in some op-ed penned by a failed former US Presidential candidate. But then even Russians enjoy a good laugh every once in a while.
This reminds me of a story from WWI, IIRC. The Allies dropped leaflets on the German trenches saying a German general was a drunk. The general responded by dropping leaflets on the Allied trenches saying he was not a drunk.
You are right John McCain cannot write this himself, His daughter will do it for him. Maybe his wife will send over a case of beer with the letter.
