McCain hints at retirement in 2016 By Mario Trujillo - 09/13/13 12:38 PM ET

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) hinted that he may be serving his last term in office, admitting that he does not want to become “one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.”

McCain, a 27-year veteran of the senate and former presidential candidate, made the admission while speaking about his relationship with President Obama.

“The president and I, he's in his last term, I'm probably in mine, the relationship we have had over the past three years is quite good,” McCain told The Wrap in an interview. “Quite good."

The 77-year-old McCain's current term is up in 2016. When asked if this would really be his last term, McCain backtracked a bit.

“Nah, I don’t know,” McCain said. “I was trying to make a point. I have to decide in about two years so I don’t have to make a decision. I don’t want to be one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.”

McCain made the initial remark about retirement off-the-cuff to a group of Obama supporters who interrupted the interview as he was arguing that television providers should unbundle their channels.

He initially backed Obama’s plan for limited military intervention in Syria, and he has been working on legislation to provide time for a diplomatic resolution.

Earlier this year, McCain also supported a compromise on universal background checks for gun buyers as part of a broader gun control package that failed in the Senate.

While arguing for immigration reform in the interview, McCain also made clear that his time in the chamber is waning.

“Now I’m not doing it for political reasons,” he said. “I’ll be long gone ... But it’s got to be done because it’s the right thing for America.”

McCain is the ninth oldest member of the Senate. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), 80, became the oldest after Sen. Frank Lautenberg’s (D-N.J.) death earlier this year.

“I don’t want to be one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.”

Too late A/H, you should have been gone a long time ago.

2016 isn’t soon enough for this traitor. McCain needs to be run out of office in a recall, regardless of the expense. He needs to leave in shame, he’s earned that.

He has been bad enough already, but now that he is a short timer, he will be even more damaging to our country.

It would be appropriate if McCain vapor locked while bloviating on the floor of the Senate. It would be sweet justice and remind these pompous political clowns called “Senators” that they are mortal — no matter how much money they've stolen or what their Senatorial perks are.

He’ll probably endorse Pig Sis Napolitano to replace him.

Translation: "Anything conservative I've ever done was purely political. Now that I'm close to croaking I'm voting how I actually believe."

Yesterday, Mark Levin played an audio clip of Harry Reid complaining: "The Tea Party is winning," Reid said. Maybe those old codgers are feeling the heat. We know Boehner thought he had a good scheme to get Obamacare funded by sending a faux and a regular bill to the Senate and let the Senate toss out the one that defunded Obamacare. But that set off a firestorm of opposition from conservatives in his own party. If 2014 elections resemble 2010, there may be enough new Tea Party types to start making a real dent in the politics-as-usual crowd.

Send another 5 Ted Cruz Types and then McConnell has 10 or so Tea-Party Types to deal with. That is 20% of his collation. He has to go to them or get nothing done, and Reid knows these guys aren't going anywhere or are gonna back down and have the New Media ready to have them on in a nanno second. We all get tired-er as we get older, but right now Reid and McCain must be exhausted from us....

Fineswine will never retire. She and her husband are making tons of money from the bullet train and other government contracts that she steers to her husbands company. That greedy one eyed witch will never have enough money.
