According to Mr. Barnes’ letter he and his wife purchased “meal(s) to go”. Are tips expected when you pick up a meal to go?

Not expected, but appreciated. I always do tip. I know what they make per hour. 50 years ago, I was a 13-yr old busboy and caddy at a country club, and we worked our butts off, mainly for tips.

I tip VERY generously when I sit down to eat and the service is at least adequate, but I give only a small tip on to-go food. I would say it is a “token” tip, but that would be racist.

I don’t tip at Mcdonalds or at Starbucks. Sit down meal you might get 20% if you are good, nothing maybe if you don’t keep the ice tea coming. I always tip the pizza guy good because I was one of them.
