Sixty-one percent of Americans polled, who watched President Obama's prime-time speech, told CNN that they support his policy towards Syria.
Since some surveys showed as much as two-thirds opposition to military action against Syria in the days before the speech, the poll suggests that he did what presidents rarely do: change people's minds, if only temporarily.
How did he do it? In only 15 minutes, President Obama made his points, simply and straightforwardly. Anyone arguing a controversial case in the court of public opinion can learn from what he said and how he said it:

They never ask the question: so who watched the speech in the first place?
Translation: 61 percent of CNN viewers were too embarrassed to admit they did not understand Obama's policy on Syria.
OMG! Is this a joke? ROFL!
That's a long way to spell "Dave Kusnet, flack and duckspeaker shoveling prolefeed".
hell i bet not 1 in 50 could identify syria on a map with the country names printed.
All the cable news combined, according to Nielson, was about 7 million last night. Broadcast news tends to double that. Say 21 million watched Obama last night, and I think that's being generous.
60% of that is 12 million or so.
So, 12 million Americans watching the news approved of his speech. What did the speech say that they approved of? The bottom line of that speech was: "Let's not do anything for the time being."
The article actually said that 61% who watched supported his policy. They did not show that those 61% had changed their minds. They could have gone into the speech supporting his policy.
I, for example, didn't watch. I would expect his supporters to want to watch him.

“I’ll bet that not one out of fifty could even elucidate his policy.”

A safe bet I would guess. I was first struck by this after Slick William of Hope left office. I kept hearing people say what a great president he had been and when I asked why they said that, I usually met with a blank look followed by something about how great the economy had been in the nineties. When I followed up by asking just what did Sir Slick do to make the economy so great, not one person ever even tried to tell me. The usual response was something like, “Well, he was the president, he must have done something.” More than once I wound up losing all respect for someone I had previously liked at least reasonably well.
Occasionally I meet someone who knows exactly what he thinks and why he thinks it and is able to express it clearly and it is a shock, like meeting a peg-legged pirate with an eye patch, a knee high boot and a parrot on his shoulder. Not once has such a person supported Obama.
Everybody who has an open mind on matters of fact knows that listening to TOTUS is a waste of time.
