I’m not berating their age.

I’m mourning the country they grew up in.

It no longer exists.

When these older faces pass there will be NO one to remember what it was like to be free.

That they’re all old saddens me to no end.

I understand where you are coming from, but sometimes it is just as well to keep your negativity to yourself. History shows that the pendulum tends to swing back and forth. Is our country and Western Civilization going down the crapper? Maybe...

Just 30 years ago Ronald Reagan was still in his first term as president and the Soviets were going under. If you had been spreading your negativity during the “Reagan Revolution” would it have helped our cause?” There is plenty to be discouraged about... but there is much to give us hope as well.

Tens of thousands of “bikers” descending on our nation's capitol today in reaction to Muslim malcontents is a hopeful sign to me. The leftist global warming power grab now fizzling out gives me hope. Colorado gun grabbers getting recalled gives me hope.

The patriotic young ROTC Cadets I spoke with at the USO Gala I attended a few days ago gave me hope. The fall of a leftist prime minister in Australia gives me hope. Our Jewish friends who just traveled back to Israel to visit with their daughter despite the dangers in the Middle East give me hope. I work with and know a lot of people of courageous character and they give me hope.

Certainly there is a lot to be discouraged about, but winners do not dwell on their past defeats. Those who win generally have setback after setback. They are winners because they are not afraid of defeat and they don't give up.
