How is this a win for Obama? His presidency is diminished, as is our power on the world stage.
The Syria crisis is far from over.

This is a win for Russia, Syria, and Iran. If Obama also claims it as a ‘win’, then it will be obvious which side he is really on.

It's a win for Obama. Americans at large don't care about our power on the world stage.
Americans care about gay marriage, pot-legalization, and tobacco illegalization. They care about which celebrity will be dancing with other celebrities on TV this fall. They are busy learning about twerking. We are setting our DVR's for about 6 different TV series' that will be coming on this fall.
All of these concerns leave us too busy to pay too much attention to the world-stage. We'll believe what the media tells us to believe so we can get back to it.

Obama and kerry get what they want by threatening force but not requiring a military strike. Huge win for obama and especially for kerry who came up with it. Kerry’s so-called gaffe bailed out Obama.
Of course none of this stuff improves the situation in Syria but that is Syria’s problem. Status quo.
