Norwegian elections - Will the Norwegian Reaganites enter government? (Live thread)

Tonight we have the first parliamentary elections since the Breivik murder rampage two years ago.

The last polls have indicated that the socialistic government will fall, and that a coalition of conservative parties will take over.

This coalition - if it happens - will include the Progress Party which is almost something unique in a Scandinavian setting.

Here are some quotes from the National Review:

"By the way, there are two items of particular interest in Jensen’s office: a little Israeli flag and a bust of Reagan. It would be hard to convey how extraordinary these symbols are in the traditional Norwegian political culture. An American politician might be less scandalous for having kiddie porn in his office."

"The Progress party was founded in 1973, to advance the principles of classical liberalism. The party declares that its philosophy “starts with the democratic assumption that the people are best placed to decide what is best for them.” This is radical, almost revolutionary stuff here in Scandinavia. Progress’s symbol is an apple: healthful, good for you. Norheim likes to crack, “An apple a day keeps the government away.” The symbol of the party’s youth branch is a thumbprint: a symbol of individualism. Everyone has a thumbprint, and everyone’s is different, unique."

"Hanging out with them for a few days, I find them, not only brainy, principled, and nervy, but fun — you might expect that. They tend to have a gonzo spirit, and an American spirit. They are unabashed in their America-love. The “special adviser on financial policy” for the party is the frontman of a group called Teddy Trigger and the Gatling Guns. They do rockabilly. Progs have been known to refer to Coke as “capitalist water.” They revel in what others — so many others around them — condemn."

"I ask Siv Jensen point-blank whether she regards Islamism — radical Islam — as a threat on a par with Nazism and Communism. She says, unblinkingly, yes. And, once more, it is a threat, not only to Western civilization (bad enough), but also to those Muslims who wish to live within that civilization: and who may have fled their homelands in order to escape the radicalism they now find choking them in places like Norway."

"Chief among her political models are Reagan — he is sitting right behind her — and Thatcher. (In 2008, Standpoint magazine in London ran a feature about her titled “A Norwegian Thatcher?”) And her writer of choice is Ayn Rand: “I have read her books over and over again. I just love them. They inspire me, they provoke me, they make me feel alive — they force you to reflect on a lot of issues in your society.” Has any writer ever received a finer tribute? So, Jensen is a Randian, then? “No, not all the way through. Her ideas are a bit too radical for me. But, when I was younger, I got inspired by reading her, and I think everyone could benefit, because she forces you to think — and it’s healthy to think, no matter what your ideology.”

Follow me into Kristian Norheim’s office, please — it must be the most politically incorrect room in Scandinavia. There are three posters of Churchill. There’s Reagan, of course: “Viva the Reagan Revolution!” There’s Barry Goldwater: “In your heart you know he’s right.” There’s a George Washington doll, and a George W. Bush doll. There’s a picture of the Stealth bomber (!). There’s a hat from the New York Fire Department. There’s an Israeli flag, a GOP flag (with elephant), a Gadsden flag (“Don’t Tread on Me”). And that’s only a fraction of the inventory."

Does not really matter.

Whatever party. it has a leftwing/multiculturalist/islamic kadre taking care of business. Their programs are basically the same.

You would need a revolution to actually make a difference. As it is, it’s like GOPe abd Democrats.

It is good.

Haardrada is not reliable imho. Feel free to correct me Harald.

He is of course right in one thing. The parties are NOT perfect...

But, what and who is?

btw, the progress party has been supporting Sarah Palin and have had close ties to the tea parties.¨

Haardrade seems to want a violent revolution.

How this will all work out in the end will depend on the horse trading. I really hope the Progress Party stands firm on immigration, and leave the government if they cannot get their will there.

Otherwise I think they will sign their own death warrant as a major political party.

Sorry. I can provide you with extensive dossiers on rather a lot of the “conservative” actors in Norwegian politics who are NOT conservatives. And the fact is that most people dubbed conservative in Norway are not.

Take FRP, for instance. The last time they had an overriding conservative ideology was under Anders Lange, his successor was a good start but at the end it was all about him. And Simonsen paid the price. Or Høyre/Solberg - not conservatives, just a little less communist. And their “house newspaper”, Aftenposten, employs some of the most wellknown homosexual activists and communist writers in Norway.

Where the f did you get the idea that I wanted a violent revolution? That is classical laborite mumbo-jumbo. But we do need a complete break with the corrupt past.

Sorry if I have misinterpreted your calls for a revolution.

I have to admit that I am an admirerer of Edmund Burke.

I distrust revolutions driven by ideology.

Change should be handled with respect for the past and for what has made our societies what it is.

But, I am no friend of the current Norwegian political reality.

My little sister, who is a fellow freeper, is one of the many who have been brutally raped in the last few years. It was a Somalian, and he had just previously raped a 12 year old girl. He was sentenced to 12 years in jail, but never showed up to serve his sentance. You know the INSANE Norwegian criminal policy.

Jan Simonsen was a bit of a clown, so I am not sure in his conservative credentials. What was his deal with all the gay clubs and all that? The progress party need more competent people like Solvig Olsen, not more people like Jan Simonsen.

Anyhow, going to watch the debate now.

Btw. I do think we share the same side, so take care mate.

And btw.. Just came over this article:

http://www.friatider.se/aftonbladets-aagard-jag-njot-av-pissa-i-haret-pa-yngre-eleverEnemy”;.

More of that and I might rethink my position on revolution, violent or otherwise.

Well, violence will come. Not from our side, but the leftists and the muslims have been marching toward that formany years. There was a sort of lull after WWII, when the statists were afraid of the people, but that ended.

The article is pretty in tune with what I remember of certain SUF people in the sixties. Alchohol-soaked like Theresa’s raisins, and into gangrape and sadism as sport. Not immigrants. Establishment kids.

Sorry for being late.

Yeah, violence is already here.

I told you about the rape of my sister.

Myself, I have attended “Journalisthøyskolen”, and after working on a story late on thursday night I wanted to walk down to the central station.

Unfortunately I walked down Pilestredet and past the Blitz house. I was immediately surrounded, and asked for money and cigarettes. I gave them 3-4, then they snatched the pack from my hands. When I asked them what they were doing?

They attacked. I was surrounded by like 15-20 blitzers who took turns hitting and kicking me.

This criminal activity is practically supported by the Norwegian government.

So what can you do?

Back in the 80’s I had to move around a lot in those areas. I was *never* unarmed, and I gave away untold cans of CS and Capsi to others who had business there. For a while the police was actually warning about a homo group in Grønland raping men, and to keep away in the evening time.

Of course, that was before the police became a terrorist accomplice.
