The relationships within the ME are a little more complicated then just strength & force, but I agree that it’s a big part of it.

I have lived and worked in that region and I can tell you, first hand, what I wrote is the bottom line. In the Arab world, RESPECT and SAVING FACE are more important than life itself.
They can be gracious, incredible hosts and stab you in the back 36 times.
In the Bible, (Torah actually, not sure what specific section) it says (in Hebrew) “Chabdayoo ve Chashdayoo”, which means, show respect [with those Arabs you have dealings with]but always be suspicious and on your wares. This is a healthy approach to Arabs and Islam in general.
