Russia will help Syria in the event of a military strike, Putin stressed as he responded to a reporters question at the summit.
Will we help Syria? We will. And we are already helping, we send arms, we cooperate in the economics sphere, we hope to expand our cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which includes sending humanitarian aid to support those people the civilians who have found themselves in a very dire situation in this country, Putin said.

Obama says that he told Putin that he “doesn’t expect” them to agree on Syria, though he thinks that Putin’s position on Syria evidence is less tenable in light of the recent reports on the chemical weapons attack. Obama emphasizes that even if the U.S., Russia, and other parties of the conflict don’t agree, it’s still important to work together to stem the humanitarian and geopolitical crisis.
Barky: Um, ahh, Valarie where are you?
Putin: “Get that Snowden kid on the phone, this is working so well I want him to dig up everything he’s got on his clown”

Obama, asked about the difficulties of going to Congress for authorization: “I knew this was going to be a heavy lift,” says he has a good polling operation at the White House. Acknowledging that many of his supporters in Congress and the nation aligned with him on his Iraq War opposition, Obama says that the process continues to convince the skeptical that an attack “limited in time and in scope” will still be “meaningful” and serve as a strong deterrent.
