Read that first link. They have a panned exercise for the Kuznetsov to Syria in December. They have not changed those plans. The Kuznetsov is not there now.
Quote:”Earlier this year a Russian naval officer told Interfax that the Navy had decided to end the Admiral Kuznetsovs scheduled maintenance early and deploy it on a mission that would include a stopover in the Mediterranean Sea, where Russia has established a permanent naval task force in response to the hostilities in the Middle East. That report did not specify whether it deployed to the Tartus military base in Syria, although speculation abounded.”

Note “end the scheduled maintenance EARLY” is a code word for that unit to scramble. The press is always filled with 1/2 truths so far as the deployment of military units are concerned. We do it and other nations do too. Never take these reports at face value. One of the main reason Congress and our allies is against the Syrian action is the danger of the rapidly growing Russian deployment in the Mediterranean. This is a very dangerous situation that we can get our fannies kicked badly in.
