The Russians aren’t stupid. And they have been using fracking for years.

That’s not what matters. What matters is that areas that had no provable crude deposits have loads of shale and other deposits that could give countries that were locked into import-only energy relationships with countries like Russia a way out of that relationship.

France has loads of frackable resources that may allow them to reduce their petroleum importing to something near zero, and if it doesn’t there will be new exporters to compete with Russia on the continent.

For years, the world has been a ‘crude-only’ petroleum economy for the most part, but fracking has allowed brand new players. Its a cartel-breaking development.

...”The Chinese have sent vessels to the area as well”....

Scary uh? Lining up for what could be WW3 ...can’t believe Bo is going ahead regardless of basically the world opposing this. He’s throwing his weight around and few are listening...

He’s already increased it from Navy Missles only to now sending in bomber planes to target areas.....

I don’t know how any can say this isn’t an act of war....he has no policy on the ME except to create more fires over there.

"Wonder how many times Putin has watched the old video of JFK backing Kruschev into a corner over the Cuban missiles...now it’s payback time."

It is believed, perhaps lore, that Joe Kennedy sweetened the pot to keep the Kennedy's from humiliation?

It is acknowledged that the Russian ships in the area would be meat in any engagement, but that isn’t what they are there for.

They are a trip-line, and Putin is daring the Gay Media Messiah to cross it. In addition, the Russians, and the Chinese, have been working on a lot of new toys to knock down cruise missiles, and drones, among other things, like Gen3 GPS spoofers.

Obama has given Putin more than enough time to get the latest toys in theater, were they can be tested in a limited engagement.

Looks like maybe the being of the conflicts described throughout scripture, and prophesied to occur at the end of this age.

Interesting times for sure...

I was reading this thread and stared thinking....always dangerous.

(BTW....what follows is not meant as a thread hijack, just my thoughts about what I’m seeing. If you view this as a hijack, I do apologize. That having been said....)

I can just see Obama and his over-stuffed ego wanting to ‘make a statement’ that he is one who ‘doesn’t back down’ from what he wants. Now that Russia has said just what they’re going to do if Syria is attacked, I can imagine that our no-nothing, “I’m doing it MY way” (p)res__ent will ignore the blatant warning he just got and attempt an attack on Syria anyway.

Biblical scholars have often wondered why the United States isn’t ever mentioned in end-times prophecy. I offer this:

Could it be that the reason we’re not mentioned is that the US DOES NOT EXIST in that time because we’ve been blown off the map in a thermonuclear war?

Given our nation’s increasing proclivity for embracing evil (abortion, divorce, gay marriage, sexual promiscuity, etc. ad nauseum), might it not be that God’s justice might be shown by causing the utter destruction of the United States?
I am by NO means saying that I want this. I’d like to die peacefully, old and full of years , not trembling in terror as inbound Russian ballistic missiles are about to vaporize myself and my family. I AM saying that this may be a possibility. Remote, but it’s there.

BACK DOWN, you jerk!

The President of the United States should NEVER "back down" from Russia or anybody else. We never should have gotten involved in Syria's civil war in the first place.

Unfortunately, if or when Obama backs down from his crazy idea of punishing Assad for allegedly using chemical weapons it will now appear that the United States has indeed back down because of Russian threats. The longer this ordeal goes on the worse it makes us look.

Best thing for our government can do at this point is concede that we have no concrete evidence that the chemical attack was carried out by the Assad regime therefore have no reason to punish Assad by bombing Syria and killing even more innocents.

Are you kidding? The French don’t give a crap about enviro-weenies. They STILL haven’t signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, and (even though it was a while ago) are still one of the only nations in the world who performs nuke tests above ground.

I think they’ll look at the enviro-weenies, tell them “F*** off” (in French, of course) and shoot anyone who tried to stop them.

Best thing would be for the country to stand up to our government, and punish those pushing for an ILLEGAL WAR. For their own personal gain.

and punish them so brutally and mercilessly that NO ONE will ever forget what happens to those that put self before their duty to US.

If found guilty, of course.

Anyone boasting of Russia's lack of conventional weapons would do well to remember those of an unconventional nature it has on hand, and the work they've recently put into underground shelters for its government and its people, and the resolve to use both. Same goes for China.

If this turns into any sort of major conflict, (conventional or otherwise), America's days of being the world's biggest superpower are over. We're almost there now, even without war.

I'm expecting Baraq to come out sometime today and announce:

We're at war with Eastasia. We've always been at war with Eastasia.

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength
Democrats are Patriots

Obama’s diplomatic ability is making George W Bush look like Henry Kissinger.

Think of the countries Obama will have to cross out as possible post-presidency destinations. The list is growing.

Just an exercise of futility. Democrats started Vietnam trying to be the World police, afterall.
Putin will look like a Warrior while Obama makes America look weak.

Putin should remember one thing though, we're all still Americans and we'll
still kick your ass back to the Kremlin, Obama or no Obama. Bitch!

Except that we’re being sucked into it anyway. We fight wars overseas PRECISELY because we want to avoid fighting them here.

What we are looking at next is an invasion of the United States in the not too distant future.

The probing of our infrastructure and homeland defense systems is relentless and continuous now, where before it was occasional and not very sophisticated.

9/11 was a first skirmish, and frankly we didn’t do very well. Instead of fighting to win, we fought not to lose, and we cheered ourselves up with, “Well, eventually we’ll get to go home.”

At this point in time, the US no longer has any allies it can truly rely upon. We’ve completely obliterated 60 years of hard work building special relationships world wide.

Obama tried to be Taft. Even he now realizes the US either protects its interests - all of which are overseas - or the Russians and Chinese will impose its version of ‘peace’.

Obama surrendered all of that, starting with the Poles back in 2008, in such a short period of time. I take that back, starting with the British - he sent back Churchill’s bust.

Not many people realize that Churchill’s as much an American as he was a Brit. His mother was a US citizen.

When are all the 50+or- people in the USA going to acknowledge that Obama is a dangerous narcissistic person out to aid and and abet with his enablers to bring the USA into the 3rd world. I would surmise those people can be found at ball games, rock concerts, movies, USA borders, most anywhere. These people didn’t or don’t care that Obama is all for ‘change’ particularly our Constitution.

"A Russian warship carrying “special cargo” will be dispatched toward Syria"

"Nuclear weapons."

---------------------------------->

Nah.........just a boat load of ham "sammiches"....

Just whistlin' past the grave yard. I don't think Putin bluffs but B. Hessein does and he does it very poorly.

Think there are special NSA agents tasked with Free Republic alone?

If so, we should, via the Internet, and, specifically from FR, wish them a good morning and good evening, hope they had a good lunch and celebrate holidays with them. They've got to be bored some of the time.

Tommow we could send pictures or videos commentating Patriots Day.

On non-holidays, I'd be glad to send who the saint was for the day, etc.

We could send them pictures or videos fromYouTube of cute kitties and puppies doing silly, funny things.

We could asked them what their favorite football team is. Just to get the dialog going.

Let your imagination soar!
