If the House voted today on a resolution to attack Syria, President Barack Obama would lose and lose big.
Thats the private assessment of House Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides who are closely involved in the process.
If the Senate passes a use-of-force resolution next week which is no sure thing the current dynamics suggest that the House would defeat it. That would represent a dramatic failure for Obama, and once again prove that his sway over Congress is extraordinarily limited. The loss would have serious reverberations throughout the next three months, when Obama faces off against Congress in a series of high-stakes fiscal battles.
Several Republican leadership aides, who are counting votes but not encouraging a position, say that there are roughly one to two dozen yes votes in favor of military action at this time. The stunningly low number is expected to grow a bit.
But senior aides say they expect, at most, between 50 and 60 Republicans to vote with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who support the presidents plan to bomb Syria to stop Bashar Assad from using chemical weapons on his people. That would amount to less than one-third of the House Republican Conference.

We are about to see a stampede of Senators running for tall grass, squealing like stuck pigs.
This whole nonsense is about to implode.
I think you are seeing a bigger rebuke than the Obamacare fiasco.
The upside of this national debacle is that win-or-lose, Obama is so severely damaged by this that not even his media sycophants will be able to dig him out, opening the door for Repubs to actually do something about Obamacare, and the Budget.
That assumes, of course, that someone has the balls to stand up and take the lead on it.
Screw Syria. I want to know what skullduggery Obama is up to that he needs a new war to distract us.
I think this is out of pure loyalty to his muslim brothers and a coverup to boot.
Cruz , Duncan Paul , et all...they are there
let those who would forever be remembered and appreciated step forward and do the right thing .
House members need only vote “present”-—as Benghazi Barry did soooooo many times while he was a senator for a short period of time.
Don’t take responsibility for it-—follow in the idiot’s footsteps. Rub his face in it.
So he's still doing it?
The media is parroting a lie. Asad didn't do it, Al Kida did.
I swear if this administration knew before hand, they have committed the worst war crime in US history.
What did the president know, and when did he know it?
All to cover up Benghazi?
Lol
And vice versa.
Here’s the scenarios if and when Congress (the House) votes No:
1. They vote No and Obama goes ahead and attacks Syria anyway. With a majority of the public against it, the Congress having just voted it down and the growing international community opposed to military action, the results would be an international crisis and a crisis (some would say constitution crisis) at home unlike anything seen since Nixon resignation but with unknown consequences. Iran along with Syria and Hezbollah (supported by Russia) could see the opportunity to strike and broaden the war throughout the region with a suddenly, dramatically weaken President going rogue against nearly everyone. They would be seeking collateral damage to anyone to weaken whatever grudgingly support around the president that he would naturally receive. Obama would be finished for the remainder of his term (no amnesty no nothing)
2. They votes No and Obama gives up and backs off. Even if the President didnt want to go to war and used Congress to vote no as a way out, He would indeed be openly humiliated and embarrassed internationally and he would be finished at home. After all of the talk that “we” had to do this or that and all the stuff with his red line stance and that he could go about it unilaterally if he wanted to and his Adminstration (especially Kerry) huffing and puffing about the situation, backing off would be bad for him no matter what (good for us and our soldiers not getting into a mess).
I knew God had a reason for letting BO being re-elected. Better to go down on the world stage than just ride off to Hawaii because he lost. His lying and bullying of political enemies is coming back to bite him on the world stage. Where’s the Mooch??
The bottom line is that Obama is a proven liar from his earliest days. He lied in “his” books, he lied about where he was born-remember the bio that HE wrote himself back in the early 90’s that flat out said he was born in Kenya? He lied about everything in Obamacare, he lied on the campaign trail when he claimed Alqueda was “on the run”, he lied (or sent his minions-Holder) to lie about Fast and Furious. He lied that he knew nothing about the IRS targeting his political enemies, yet allowed his underlings to take the 5th. He lied about targeting reporters. He lied huge about the reason Benghazi happened and has refused to supply an info to get to the bottom of it- so why would anyone think that he is telling the truth about Syria? He’s never told the truth.
SMACK THE MARXIST DOWN!
WE DON’T FIGHT FOR AL QAEDA!
WE DON’T FIGHT BECAUSE AS JOHN F’N KERRY SAYS THAT THE SAUDI’S AND OTHER MUSLIM NATIONS WILL PAY FOR IT!
WE ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE MERCENARIES!
It won’t stop him. He’ll flank himself with McCain, Graham and Boehner for the press conference and blame the tea party for anything that happens.
Freep You Barack Obama (FUBO)!
