Congress took the first formal step toward approving military action in Syria on Wednesday, with the Senate Foreign Relations Committees 10-7 vote to send its resolution to the full chamber.
But whether or not the resolution winds up passing in the Senate, the real hurdle remains in the GOP-controlled House. And things on that front are looking progressively dimmer for the Obama administration.

Even if it passes the house, it won’t be by much.
In my opinion, that is equal to a loss. If we go to war, it should be a
overwhelming vote in both the senate and house.
I pity the house members who are last to vote yea.
Winning a political battle is NO reason to start a war.
Take no responsibility and no one can blame you.
Always have someone else to pin your failures on.
When is my next Tee time.
Obama’s code.
Yep and from what I now understand he basically was forced into it and was following their lead. I think this time the hawks have pushed him into this and he is dragging his feet till it blows over and conservatives bail him out.
Blame them for what? What’s stopping him from doing what he wanted to do anyway? I mean, will anyone ask him why isn’t he going through with his idea to bomb syria?
Syria: MPs failed to stand against the gassing of children, says Cameron
Opponents of intervention in Syria failed to take a "stand against the gassing of children", David Cameron says at the G20 summit in St Petersburg, and will have to "live with the way they voted".
Republicans are always accused of wanting to bomb poor unfortunates in third-world countries for their own political advantage.
Democrats are the ones who always DO it.
The best thing would be to bring this to a vote quickly so it can die. But since Boehner already sold out to support it, you can count on delay, delay, and more delay so he and his buddy 0bama can bribe, cajole and threaten to get the 217 or 218 votes they need. In the meantime, the delay exposes this issue for the farce that it is. And since Washington DC is completely out of touch with reality, they will be blind to how much of public embarrassment it becomes.
Monday??? Bwa-ha-ha. These guys work Tuesday thru Thursday. If that. They are arriving from their districts on Monday, and they leave on Thursday.
No, but they do have to hold umbrellas for them.
Taking a poll because he has no principles of his own?
No comment, apart from this is probably the gayest photo ever.
lolz
His new name is BenOver Forbama
Because he wants to get re-elected, and he knows flying in the face of his constituents on Syria will make it harder for him to do that.
They get away with everything because, so far, the police are always two steps behind. They can’t get the facts on the earlier crimes fast enough before the next crime is committed.
I hope people in Congress stop this madness now.
I don't think Bill Clinton will get involved in this. Over the past several days, the cable news networks and other news outlets have been interviewing every so-called "expert" they can find to get their views on this issue. I've noticed, however, that no one has asked Hillary to weigh in on Syria, even though she was the Secretary of State when the unrest in Syria began, and continued during the remainder of her tenure. She has been staying as far away from this issue as she can, therefore, so will Bill. The fact that she hasn't used this as an opportunity to promote herself in preparation for 2016 is very telling.
Has anyone on either side of this fiasco mentioned the possible or probably number of casualties that may result from a strike?
It seems as if this is all about taking out some real estate, not people as well.
Therefore, if we kill 10,000 or 100,000 people on either side of this local dispute will that be a good thing as a smackdown for using gas on less than 2,000 people?
