War should occur only when America is attacked, when it is threatened or when American interests are attacked or threatened. I dont think the situation in Syria passes that test. Even the State Department argues that theres no military solution here thats good for the Syrian people, and that the best path forward is a political solution.
The United States should not fight a war to save face. I will not vote to send young men and women to sacrifice life and limb for stalemate. I will not vote to send our nations best and brightest to fight for anything less than victory.
Bashar Al-Assad is clearly not an American ally. But does his ouster encourage stability in the Middle East, or would his ouster actually encourage instability?
Are the Islamic rebels our allies? Will they defend American interests? Will they acknowledge Israels right to exist? Will they impose Sharia law? Will they tolerate Christians or will they pillage and destroy ancient Christian churches and people?
The president and his administration have not provided good answers to any of these questions. Those who seek military action have an obligation to publicly address these concerns before dragging our soldiers into another Middle Eastern war. Shooting first and aiming later has not worked for us in the past, and it should not be our game plan now.
In 2007, then-Sen. Obama stated that no president should unilaterally go to war without congressional authority unless there is an actual or imminent threat to our nation. James Madison argued this same position. Our Founding Fathers understood that the executive branch was the most prone to war. That is the constitutional position.
President Obamas new position, though, is that while he requests congressional input, he doesnt necessarily need Congress approval.

.... and it would be a war started by a false flag.
This madness is going down real bad. I am telling you hell is breaking loose in congress. Cut it loose on email and phone and fax. Save this nation now and by the way NO AMNESTY AND NO FUNDING OF OBAMACARE!! The TEA PARTY has been persecuted but we are ALIVE !! Million of us, SCREW MCcain the traitorous bas%^d. No political mercy on any one voting to install the godless in power in Syria,
Rand Paul is a voice crying in the wilderness. He like the prophets of old speaks truth to power.
Have communicated with my Sens on this issue. Crickets.
It s a typical homosexual trade, tit in Syria game for tat against us elsewhere. Obama handlers are trapping us into future guilts and obligations to the world at the expense of our custodians. This colonization is not going to be allowed, the world does not believe in affirmative action for zero.
As Paul said, the objectives must be clear, not some blood ink obamacare resolution we do not know what is in it.
What more can we do? I fear the fix is in. I’ve called and written all my reps and senators, asked people to vote in poles and sign petitions. I have talked with friends, family and neighbors. What else is being organized? I can do a lot from my keyboard. Task us!
Did you see that puke who worked for Bush? He said it’s up to us to support Obama to “rescue his credibility.” I almost fell out of my chair. Rescue his credibility-——with American blood?!?
Oh, that is really sickening. I'm so glad I wasn't watching. I would have probably needed a new TV tomorrow.
One sane, rational voice.
Thank God for Senator Paul.
Come on folks, still time to stop this madness!!
Rand’s old man may be a bit of an isolationist nut, but Rand makes sense on this.
We’ve seen Mubarek, Gadaffi (sp),and various other secular strongmen overthrown in recent years, and now we see Assad in the same boat.
“Arab Spring” is bullshit.
Sadam Hussein was the prototype, cold war solution to this regional instability.
I understand we thought had to kiss some butt over there when we let our energy appetite override our ass. We achieved stability, at some cost, but it was preferable by far to the current dysfunctional grab bag.
Now we appear ready to disassociate with Israel because of our recent incompetence.
That promises our undoing.
The RINOS are attacking the Tea Party.
And the Tea Party is MIA
Where are the protests?
