MOSCOW, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - A round of ammunition used near the largest Syrian city of Aleppo in a purported chemical weapons attack in March was not a factory-made item of the Syrian armed forces, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry was guided by the conclusions of Russian experts who investigated the March 19 incident in Syria that reportedly left 26 civilians and soldiers dead and another 86 people injured.
“The used round of ammunition was a homemade item on the basis of rockets made in Syria’s north by the so-called Bashair Al-Nasr brigade,” the ministry said in a statement

Assad has no reason to use anything other than conventional munitions. He has already killed over 97,000 people with bullets and bombs, why stop when the Ruskies would give you an endless supply of AKs, tanks and ammo.
I don’t like it either but Russia has seemed like they are exerting their influence in a conflict that Barry ignored and now that Barry wants to play, nobody wants to play with him. Putin loses all credibility if he firmly backs a guy that did this and Barry loses credibility when he attacks the wrong guys.
Russia has been very straightforward with us (from I can tell) for a long time. They want to be rivals on all fronts (political, economic and militarily) and they will try to exert themselves when the opening exists. They want to secure oil and business relationships with people that want to do business. These conflicts are bad for business.

I know why Barry lies but I have no idea why Russia would cover for a guy using gas to kill people when bombs and bullets have been working so far. There is no win for them if it’s proven they supported a guy that gassed a town.
It’s only good for them to have the US attack and it be proven that they weapons were used by the rebels to draw US support.
These are the same people that warned the US about the Boston bombers. They could have clammed up but decided to help and got ignored.
