Posters Featuring Trayvon Martin Defaced On WSU Campus ("Does My Hoodie Scare You?")

Posters with images of Trayvon Martin were defaced recently on the Wichita State University campus. The posters were advertising a diversity discussion Wednesday called "Does My Hoodie Scare You?"

Student Wilma Foster says she was surprised by the posters that showed the slain Florida teen's face crossed out and another poster with a Hitler-looking mustache added.

"That's an expression of something inwardly that's very negative and perhaps even very deep that may end up surfacing over a short or long period of time," she says.

But student Jared Higgins says things like this happen on a college campus.

"I think that it was a lot of the kind of party students that did this," he sayd. "I don't think that it makes a point one way or the other."

Martin was killed by George Zimmerman who was acquitted by a jury in July. Most students agree continuing the discussion of the shooting death of Trayvon is a worthwhile endeavor toward understanding.

The first organization to purge whites was the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). In December, 1965, in a narrow vote, they decided to become a group for blacks only. SNCC, the student organization that had supplied so many of the people whose courage made the civil rights movement possible and whose creed was described by the small buttons that featured simply a black and white hand, had in the space of a year become a segregated organization.

They may be saving it for the new museum of African American history that they are building next to the Washington Monument. I just did the Smithsonian with some of the kids in my family. I found the museums downtown to be run down and in need of a rehab. The air museum out at Dulles is awesome. Parking is stiff, but they have extended hours in the summer and after four the parking is free.

Fellow FReepers, I am beginning to think about acquiring a high capacity pistol that I could CC. I have been reading many stories about gangs of 10-15 young blacks attacking whites with no provocation. I currently carry a hammerless S&W 38Special+P that has only five round capacity,and I am feeling under equipped. Would appreciate any suggestions
