Even if Assad did it, why do we need to be involved? What makes chemical weapons intrinsically worse than say, dropping a Daisy Cutter on them? It’s a civil war. Bd guys killing bad guys.

I agree with you. Even if Assad did it, I am not in favor of striking Syria. But lack of clear culpability on the part of Assad may be a consideration for members of congress who are sitting on the fence with a finger in the wind.
Seems to me the rebels, who apparently were losing, had a far greater incentive to do it than the Syrian military.
